Why? If you can give an 11 to each slot once, then all you need is one account to give a single video all 11s. Yes, you'd need an account for each vid you want to dish a straight 11s score to, but you'd only need one account for each video - not 9. Unless you are setting it up so a person can only give one 11 to one section once during his entire membership. In which case, it would go to reviewability alone since that score counts the most.

And yes rewiews are going to get edited more often, but at the same time they're going to have to take the scores they give much more seriously. And no, 11's are not meant to be disregarded under any circumstances.

and Tobin, the 10's are not meant for the best you've ever seen, and it doesn't say that anywhere. At it's most scrutinized people look at a 10 as supossed to mean perfect. And more than one vid can meet a persons standard of perfection. CHanging it so each person could only give one 10 in each category would be logical, but if the reviews were changed to relect that then things would get pretty hairy since that would mean all the reviews of vids with 10s in them are going to need to be redone and royaly fuxx0r the top 10% list. and Phade would need to rewrite the calculation script to not disregard 10s. Instead this is much simpler. It adds a new option for those who put thought into their videos without dicking around too much with the current review system. And at the same time kills fanboyism in it's tracks since the kind of person that gives ONE review with nothing but tens is more than likely to give the same ratings to another vid he or she happens to see but with this they can't run around doing that anymore. The more I think about it the better this idea sounds.
What're you telling me for? I didn't say anything. :P

Oh yeah. Damn me. :x

But instances of that should occur just as often as they do for 10s at the moment. Which isn't all that often, and not to any severe degree.

And damnit, I meant Ryan.

But if you make that 11 score count for a lot more than the 10s do (you said you wouldn't discount the 11 as an 'odd' high score the way the 10s are discounted), then those people giving 11s would have a huge advantage over the ones giving 10s right now. They'd have even more reason to go through the trouble of making a new account - with this system, a single all 11s would be as good for a vid as a couple all 10s are now.

Then again, since vids are scored according to how many reviews they get, maybe it would even things out if people gave a few 11s instead of dozens of 10s - since more reviews equal a higher score.

As the ratio of opinions left before we added an 11 outnumber the opinions that came afterwards over time, we will still see similar score distributions as we do now, but on a scale of 1-11 instead of 1-10. So then what? Should we increase the highest score to 12? 13? 14? 1 million? This is a defective standard at best.

The problem isn't with the scoring system, but with the people who are entering the scores. However, I can't think of a way to make everyone conform to the same scoring standards. Introducing a higher upper bound isn't going to fix anything though.

They wont count for alot more than the 10s do, they just wont be disregarded. This will probably result in people trying to pad their ratings, but people going around padding a rating can be sniffed out easily. ESPECIALLY if it's a straight 11 review. Phade can go and have reviews with 7, 8, or 9 11s auto flagged for inspection and IP checked to be compared to existing accounts.

OMGROFLWTF BUT WAHT IF HE USES A PROXY?!?!?!

NO fanboy in his right mind is going to try doing a proxy. The ONLY person willing to use a proxy would be someone who is trying to pad their OWN rating, in which case you'd ban the account and as is those are few and far between.

It isn't a NEW scale, it's an addition to the existing one. 11 as I said is simply an abreviation for "The best anyone has ever see".

So I don't see the logic behind this comment

I must be a blithering idiot for expecting the best anyone has ever seen to be a realistic ceiling to the rating system.

And as I said before:
The 10's are not meant for the best you've ever seen, and it doesn't say that anywhere. At it's most scrutinized people look at a 10 as supossed to mean perfect. And more than one vid can meet a persons standard of perfection.
The ceiling at the moment is so low people are hitting their heads when they try to stand up straight.

And I can't stress this enough, but since the most anyone can give is 9 11s the impact on the system as is, is going to be minimal compared to the number of 10s out there.
