Ok I have a few things to say. I don't know why you people have problems. Is she stealing some one elses ideas? probably not. Is she posting in the wrong forum? No, not unless someone switched this from the Suggestion forum to something else. I posted too and people put mine down. This is a suggestion forum, not a 'Do this or die' forum, she was just suggesting some ideas, as I was in mine. I know mine are crappy so please don't go into that, but hers were fine. Maybe you didn't like them, so what? She isn't telling you to do them. But as she said and as I said in mine, I guess we've learned to keep our ideas to ourselves and not hand them out to be shredded by the people in here.
Even if you didn't like them, you didn't have to be so rude, you could have just stated that you didn't like the ideas instead of pick them to the bone about why you hated them.
Ok well I'm done, go ahead and scream at me now because I don't care. but leave Karen alone would you? she was just giving some ideas.

getting back to the point people... most of the anime you've listed other the kenshin are kiddie shows, but (and this is directeed at you ninebirds) i have seen many thing taken from these shows and turned into awsome vids, If the timing is just right then i belive that any video idea is possible with ANY music. Take the Fluxmister for instance... took the power puff girls and turned them hardcore. Used Yu-Gi-Oh and made it great, the point is that anything can be done if enough thought is given to the idea. try your vid ideas, ill watch them and tell you what i think of them. I leave you all with this tought... opinions are like assholes, everyone has them and some no one cares to hear.

You know, some of the best editors here have a sad lack of creativity when it comes to thinking up their own ideas. Some, who can edit like the devil, couldn't come up with a good story if it bit them in the backside. And some people have so much trouble thinking of a concept that the ideas given here could be a God-send to them. If one person doesn't like it, fine, flame and go on your way. Leave the ideas for those who want them, it's nothing to you.
As for *these* suggestions, I can say at least one of them is a very original and nice idea. The sailormoon vid featuring Sapphire and Diamond - as she said, underused characters. Given, I don't care for that band, so I would pick a different song myself, but the mood of the music would fit the footage nicely - you wouldn't even have to force it to get a good video out of the combination. It's the sort of thing that a light handed editor could make into a great video. Maybe there *are* lots of SM vids, but not for those characters. I'm sure there are some vids for that song, but it's the concept more than the anime/song choice that makes the big difference. The concept is highly original. Compared to some acclaimed Hellsing/Kenshin/etc action/romance vids on the top charts (using the same old pairings, same old action scenes - like good editing will stop it from being unoriginal), some of the suggestions here are a lot more original.
But the main thing to remember is that concept is more important than anime/song combination, and even a cliche idea can be 'great' in the hands of the right editor. Just check which vids people like on this site - sure, you'll get a few crossover vids that reek in originality, the multi-anime action or humor vids that were original when they made them, the 'make fun of editors' parody vids, the effects vids (where concept doesn't matter as long as it looks 'cool' ) - but the others are just well edited videos using the same ideas that anyone would link to the anime being used (the non-parody Eva vids, the Escaflowne romance vids, the RK action/drama/romance vids, the Hellsing action vids, the 'Voice of a Distant Star' drama/romance vids - almost every one that isn't a parody uses the plot that sits foremost in the original anime). Originality doesn't seem to determine whether viewers enjoy it on a large scale.

Enjoyable AMVs with unoriginal anime/song combinations or concepts are the exception rather than the rule. Creators need to be realistic about their abilities--not everybody is going to take a mediocre idea and break the mold with his/her AMV. In general, it's best to come up with a creative concept as well as creative editing techniques.
And remember I never said for you to not make the videos--I mean don't waste space by uploading them to the Org. Don't beg and whine for opinions, and when you get low ones don't freak out and claim there's a conspiracy against you headed by fans of the elites. If you're going to be lazy about your ideas, then don't complain when others are lazy about responding to them.
Finally, what's with the furor? Oh no, someone actually expressed a negative opinion about someone's ideas! No, we can't have *gasp* criticism! I refuse to play the little "Everybody's a Winner" game and push the stupid belief that everybody's ideas and AMVs are good no matter what. That's a lie. You want to improve, you need harsh, frank opinions. Get a spine and deal with it.

Don't you hate it when people describe something as "cute" when they really mean "God, I want to fuck that"?

- Almost half of the videos (25/55) on my favorite list use songs I would have considered mediocre at best. But I value editing over song selection so that's only a personal preference.
- I don't see what's wrong with uploading vids to the Org jus because the songs used are, in any given person's opinion, mediocre. There are lots of, say, Shania Twain fans out there and perhaps diversifying the list of AMVs on the org, the site could attract more fans.
- There's nothing wrong with criticizing her ideas but some parts of your original post sound more like a flame than criticism.

True, but that's why she's giving the ideas away. She's being realistic (and maybe insecure - if she doesn't try she doesn't know if she'd be able to do it or not) and giving the ideas out so someone with the ability can try.NineBirds wrote:Enjoyable AMVs with unoriginal anime/song combinations or concepts are the exception rather than the rule. All good suggestions and tips for future vid creators who might be looking at these ideas and considering them. But when you direct it at the *supplier* of the ideas and criticise the ideas instead of the inadequate creators who might be tempted to *use* the ideas, that advice is wasted. And remember I never said for you to not make the videos--I mean don't waste space by uploading them to the Org. No, I never said everyone's amvs would be good - I just defended the ideas themselves. You attacked her ideas, her concepts, and I don't think even the most mundane idea needs to be attacked - not until it *is* a video that gets uploaded. Sure, you have to tell people when you think their vids fail because of a mundane idea or faulty editing technique - that's constructive criticism. People *need* that in order to improve. The only problem here is that you were attacking the ideas themselves - and you seem to know that in the right hands, even seemingly 'bad' or 'cliche' ideas have a lot of potential. It's not the ideas, it's who uses them. So there's no need to yell and run her off for sharing her ideas, right? Finally, what's with the furor? You don't have to play 'nice' if you think the ideas could be horrid vids in the wrong hands. Just make a simple warning - "You'd have to be a good editor to keep those ideas from being the usual cliche," or "What's the catch? What would keep that vid from being like the others using that song/pairing/concept?" In which case, the creators reading the ideas will consider your good points without dismissing you for attacking the source.

My Music Video Ideas
GOSH! It's been forever since I posted here! ^_^ '
Here's a few of my own ideas:
Title: Psychopath
Anime: Akira, Dragonball Z
Music: Disturbed-Get Psycho
Description:
I though the song 'Get Psycho' would be good for an 'Akira' video, seeing as how Tetsuo becomes a power-mad maniac as the movie progresses.
Also, the song describes Vegeta's rage at Katarotto perfectly.
Don't mind me.. all my vids got erased from my comp..and I'm stuck for ideas! ^_^ ''''

Don't stop. Some people are just being very immature. Even if they don't like your ideas, no one needs to flame you. The suggestion forum is for just that: Suggestions. No one has to use them. However, your ideas ARE very well thought out. I can't comment on the animes because I haven't really seen themKaren wrote:*Sighs and shrugs* Alright then, if it makes everyone so upset, I won't post any more of my ideas in the Suggestions Forum. I'll just keep them to myself.

Keep those creative juices flowing!
