My favorite band is The Smiths. Talking about literary approaches, Morrissey is a master lyricist and storyteller. I think he's an asshole and he might be a terrible person, but by god can that man write and sing. I have never even attempted to do an AMV to The Smiths, although I've listened to them so many times over the last three decades. I know every word, every chord, every riff. But I am afraid I'll screw it up, that I will never ever be able to do Morrissey and Marr justice. So I don't even try.
Actually, you are one of several recent arrivals who are here for the same purpose: they can't get real constructive criticism and conversation anywhere else. That includes really new editors. First video editors who are quite young. They've looked around at the other platforms and... That conversation just isn't happening anywhere else. So we're picking up steam again. I think we MIGHT be at the beginning stages of an Org revival because of how saturated, fast moving, and "lol good vid brah" everywhere else is. Word might be getting around to newer editors, and we need to encourage that.

Funny that you bring up The Smiths because this video started out as a There Is A Light That Never Goes Out AMV focusing on Nono and Lal'C but I just couldn't get the feel right. Great song though and I love The Smiths as well.
Also Seasons I gotta say that AMV you linked for Otohiko is the best Virtual Boy AMV I've seen bar none.

You were wise to back out. I would have tried my best to be nice, civil, and courteous but if you couldn't execute the concept, I would have likely found it painful. While my favorite song by The Smiths is actually Panic, of course, like most rabid Smiths fans I adore There Is A Light That Never Goes Out. I feel like The Smiths can't be even 90%-assed (let alone half-assed), you either execute it, or you back off. There's no margin.ProstrateConstantly wrote:Funny that you bring up The Smiths because this video started out as a There Is A Light That Never Goes Out AMV focusing on Nono and Lal'C but I just couldn't get the feel right.
