Spirited Away is still a weak film compared to his other works, and I enjoyed Lilo and Stitch far more, but I guess Hayao finally getting the awards and recognition he's been long deserving.

"Hayao Miyazaki, the legendary Japanese animator who directed the laboriously hand-drawn "Spirited Away," did not attend the Academy Award ceremony, having said he was more interested in capturing the hearts of children than Hollywood's highest honor."

Thats the way the Oscars works... most of the time you get rewarded its for past achievements that they missed.

I found Lilo and Stitch was one of the worst Disney theatrical offerings in the last 10 years.

What about Kimba the White...I mean the Lion King? Not to say the production value was bad or the story, just that it was a complete copy of an anime and didn't even give it credit. IIRC the person sued and lost because well...it's Disney.

Was it a bad movie? No, it was not... Lilo and Stitch, during the first half was pretty good... and then everything fell apart. Thats MHO
