I'm not exactly sure if that's what he meant with that scene, but... Far be it for ME to say what he meant.Pie Row Maniac wrote:Well, it's kinda like saying Trigun and Powerpuff Girls are in the same ranks of animation. As doki's Right Now video implies, this is not the case.
I just figured it was a comment on the fact that PPG looks like a weirdly deformed Japanese Anime style. Or rather, it borrows from Japanese Anime. In that way, the cultures are clashing. Of course, you could also say that, because the PPG style is kind of freaky and, dare I say, ugly... It clashes like someone wearing clothes that have clashing colors. In other words, an American trying to do a Japanese style anime doesn't seem to work. The same can be said about Samurai Jack to a certain extent.
Of course... I wouldn't want to say that's for sure what he meant... Eh he comes on here often enough, he'll probably pop in an clue us all in.
*Garylisk halfways expects the answer to be "Eh, I just thought that was kinda funny."

Hmmm. Somehow, I've managed to not see this video yet, will have to DL and watch soon.Garylisk wrote:I'm not exactly sure if that's what he meant with that scene, but... I have to find this rather amusing, given my last video and my current nearly completed one use the Powerpuff Girls Movie and Samurai Jack as their (at least main) video source.

From the notes (currently here)Garylisk wrote:Of course... I wouldn't want to say that's for sure what he meant... Eh he comes on here often enough, he'll probably pop in an clue us all in.
"At Otakon, Duane Johnson commented the choices of Trigun and PPG seemed "arbitrary", but I like them because they're both shows from the two different cultures, each of which can be said to borrow from the other." They've also both had decent exposure in the other market.
I wasn't "comparing the ranks" of animation... I just thought it was kinda funny.
You can interpret things differently if you like. One guy thought that "Right now people are winning big money" was a comment on Gainax cashing in on Eva, but....... I just thought it was kinda funny.
Ashyukun: PPG is only in one scene of the video.

I wish I could DL and watch videos and actually get to things like the notes on Right Now through our firewall.
I kind of gathered PPG only showed up in one scene or so- I just found it amusing that both series showed up in a discussion. I'm at work- it takes very little to amuse me here. 8)
