TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ AMV CONTEST FEEDBACK

Post by D-chan ^_* » Tue May 08, 2007 11:44 am

K-wa, minna-san!

My name is D-chan & I am the Founder/Lead Coordinator for The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational (TAKII), celebrating its 4th season this summer. It's a bi-yearly Asian Music/video game fusion festival in the Philadelphia area.

This season is the first time we are implementing an AMV contest of sorts. Novices & casual AMV fans were consulted when the rules were made public just early this morning & I really need your guys' constructive input on how to improve on this and make it a great springboard into a formidable thing for seasons of TAKII beyond this one.

Here is the link where you can find the AMV contest rules:

Thanks in advance for your suggestions & positive expertise! ^_^

... I see you have no restrictions on format. What about resolution, frame rate, audio sample rate, etc.?

And what are you going to be playing everything back on?

Also, I found the webpage a little confusing. You might want to look into redesigning it for better ease of navigation.

Hmmm those are some things that I seriously need to take a look at (especially the ease in navigating through the rules). I don't want it to come across like something the one would normally see elsewhere, but I want to make sure the fundamentals are being paid attention to.

I just have a complaint here....
TAKII website wrote:Q: If we submit online, can we link you to a place to download the AMV?
A: Yes, you may do so. YouTube (http://youtube.com) is a great place for doing this.
Would this not kill quality of the submissions?

There are plenty of other places to upload videos and download them from while keeping the quality.
Here, for one, and places like sendspace, and megaupload, and the like.

Q: Can we submit an AMV other than our own (ie: finding one on YouTube)?
A: Yes, ONLY IF the original creator gave you their permission to do so & you provide TAKII Coordinators their complete contact info.
lol wut? I'm sorry- but this kinda flies in the face of all sorts of rules about tact we have here. You don't submit other people's work. period. Any contest that accepts submissions like that deserves a complete blacklisting from this community.
