I have considered tipping off a couple of editors about good fits and asking if they're OK with me remixes along those lines, and give them first dibs to do it if they want. Koop is one of them, but I haven't gotten that far yet.
Ethically, there's no real need to ask first, despite what our site rules say, since we're already appropriating somebody elses work to make new videos with them. But we at least have the decency to give credit to the original creators.
