I want to host my own vids, but I need advice.
I want to create my own website and host all my vids (amvs and others), but I'm new to this and I'd like all the advice I can get. I want to use Canaca.com as my hosting service http://www.canaca.com/virtual.html, but I would like to know if there are any details I might need to know before getting started. I've heard FrontPage 2002 is the devil, but that's all I have and I was planning on using it to create my site. Does anyone know where I can get a step-by-step tutorial for the program? It's been a LONG while since I've used it. I'm a noob at this so I need all the help I can get. thanks!

well i have 2 websites that i host amvs on... lets just say that its for hentai reasons... but you want to get a host that you KNOW will allow you to host you amvs... nothing worse then making a website and getting shut down because your host dosnt allow amvs after all... another thing is, if your gunna have hentai on there... make sure that the host allows it...
You will need space and bandwidth! my websites both have 500 gigs of bandwidth per month... and lets just say that i almost hit that a few months back... 448 gigs used in a month is insane though... most of the time 100 gigs should do just fine... unless you have a ton of videos... also you need space... now this is an obvious choice, just decide how much space you want and how much your willing to spend on it... after that its all down hill, you just throw together a website and get people to go to it by linking it all over the place!
Like if you PM me after you make your site and you put a link to my sites, i'll put a link to yours. that kinda thing...

i forgot you cant edit in general... but anyways, i was just giving you a few tips on what you want to do before you make your site... as for accually creating your site... i usually stick to photoshop (for images) and Dreamweaver (html). The best thing i can suggest is that you just look on google for a tutorial on it.

those prices are unbelievably cheap... but just seach their site for if they allow or disallow video files, and some will accually check copyright... though i've only had 1 place drop my vids because of that... maby contact them and say something like your a video art student who wants to put up your videos and see what they say... you prolly shouldnt mention copyright or anime or anything like that...

Re: I want to host my own vids, but I need advice.
I use a combination of Photoshop/ImageReady (layout), FrontPage 2002 and Dreamweaver MX for my website. FrontPage is pretty straight forward - if you like, feel free to send me a PM, and I'll show you the basics.blaku92 wrote:I've heard FrontPage 2002 is the devil, but that's all I have and I was planning on using it to create my site.
