AFW3 : Anime Fest Wichita, KS AMV Contest!

Post by embiechan » Thu Mar 29, 2007 2:46 pm

Anime Fest Wichita is having another AMV contest this year!

Here's the information from the site. Please note you have to be present to win, but we will showcase any AMV submitted to us that fits the requirements.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s time once again for our Anime Music Video (AMV) contest. We’re excited to have a competition format for a second year. There are a few changes from last year – so make sure you read through everything before sending in your submissions. FINAL DATE TO ACCEPT ANY SUBMISSIONS IS MIDNIGHT ON MONDAY, JULY 16TH 2OO7!!!
We will have 4 categories this year, with a prerequisite of 4 AMV’s in each to have a winner.
Action – This is where all the fighting videos should be entered. Whether it’s aliens blasting energy or giant robots firing blasters – they all find a home here.
Comedy – Parodies and goofy videos should be competed here. Any video with music by Weird Al would be an excellent example.
Romance/Drama – We combined these categories from last year. Videos in this category should evoke a deep emotional reaction from the audience. Both dramatic death scenes and touching live stories. This is one of the harder categories to compete in.
Randoma - Consider this category last. This is a home for any video that doesn’t quite fit into any of the other categories.
AMV’s can be any length – but consider your audience. Most people will drop of interest after 5 minutes. We request no videos go over 6 minutes so we can have ample time to showcase all of our submissions as well as a myriad of series in our viewing rooms.
We judge on a variety of things, but here are the main things to consider when creating a video for competition
Song Choice / Source video choice and how they mesh together
Theme or Story
Flow and Transitioning
Lip Syncing (There will most likely be an honorable mention for this category)
Overall “Wow” factor
I can’t wait to see what talent is out there!! Feel free to email me at EClarkson@AFWcon.org with any questions, comments, or suggestions!! This is YOUR festival… Make it YOURS!!
I can't wait to hear from you!
Maybe I should submit my own video this year ... before someone else does it for me. :P
Oh, Buma made a PSA about it. Do you guys want it? You could run it before the contest. :D
