Artist Moods
I was talking to my brother and he said that depending on what side of your brain u use primarily, he said u can find out by if you left or right handed :S, your mood changes from one state to another become you switch to the other side after uve been awake a curtain amount of time, he sais that after he's does an all-nighters, he's in a more 'musical' sort of mood and does more dance mixes, but if he's just woke up, he does computer stiff like programmes etc.
I thought about this and though, can it apply to making AMV's? if you can switch moods into a more 'musical' mood by staying up longer or doing your AMV later on in the day, you should be able to produce a better AMV because your basicly in a better frame of mind of it, you can visualise the AMV in your head alot better etc

Seems like an interesting theory. I know I do most of my AMV work right before I o to sleep, but that's more of a time-constraint thing due to working for a living than me feeling more 'creative' at that time.

well i have dont a lot of my editing late in the day, and ive never done it just after i have gotten up, but i think that's more because i have school/work/goofing off/spending time with friends in the morning and afternoon, and it's only till later in the day when i actually have the free time to work on my amvs
only time i have done an amv earlier in the day was during winter break when i really had nothing else to do, but anyway, not sure if the time of day really effected how well i did on my amvs

i like to listen to talk shows in the morning and music on the way back. music and speech processing are lateralized to opposite sides of the brain, so the reason i (as well as your brother) have different preferences at different times of day (or waking period) could have to do with differences in the sides of the brain. but emotion (if that's what you mean by mood) isn't limited to one side of the brain, so it doesn't directly explain why we would prefer speech vs. music or logic vs. imagination at different times of day.
based on my experiences, editing is pretty exhausting, so if i can't do it if i'm sleepy (like right after a big meal or if i haven't been getting enough sleep).

Nonetheless it doesn't affect that really. You are either more creative oriented or logic oriented due to those dominances. Even the example the brother gave doesn't work because taht's what he "feels like doing" and not his capability. Furthermore, your actual abilities as defined by those two lobes won't be affectd by "switching to one or the other."Scintilla wrote:I think, when the OP said "mood", s/he meant more along the lines of "way of thinking".godix wrote:Your mood has very little to do with switching from right to left brain and while fatigue does affect your thinking and mood it isn't because of which side of your brain is in use.
More importantly this doesn't work because the two lobes work in tandem 100% of the time, while everyone is oriented to one or the other partially defining their abilities in those areas the lobes are in constant communication with one another in order to function as a whole. This is because botht their functions are needed simultaniously (i.e. if you were to write out words in colored font, it would take one part of the brain to read them and one part to identify the color). This is proven by the rare individuals whose lobes are seperated (either due to brain trauma or genetic defect). With one part functioning and the other not they can only identify or do certain things, they also synch the left and right motors of the body (right side to left and left to right). In a series of tests this can better be shown through that when restricted to seeing out his right eye, a subject cannot identify colors at all, he can't say the color he sees; wheras if restricted to the left eye he can't read words.
If the brain were to actually switch from one to the other due to a long day you would either suffer a complete loss of one of these functions or a sudden decreased ability in them. Beyond this the brain itself is not just using one part all day long but as stated is communicating between the two.
