Are there any good rippers besides Divx?

Don't get me wrong, I love it's speed and quality but I've heard some conventions don't accept the watermark so I was wondering if there was one without a watermark.

BTW, I also need a good capture card for my TV.

1) DivX is a CODEC.
2) You can turn the watermark off.
3) Most cons want MPEG2 submissions, unless they get so few entries that they care about quantity over quality.
4) Ask about capture cards in the video hardware forum - or, hell, lurk a bit. There are plenty of topics there about them.

Check Doom9.org's software page for links to SmartRipper and DVD Decrypter. I have used them both for years and they're both great, absolutely free rippers.

Of course, they won't convert the video for you; they just rip VOBs, no more (setting aside for the moment the possibility of demuxing individual streams). You'll need a few more steps to get the footage into a usable format, which can be explored in more detail here.

However, the bit of extra work is worth it, IMNSHO. You end up getting footage that looks just as good as the DVD it was ripped from, and no watermarks or anything nasty like that.

Sorry, I had ripping on the mind but I already have a good one.

Anyway, wher can I turn the watermark off?
