i'm a bit confused with all the contradictory info in the thread... From what i understand there is an FTP now and... what exactly is the requirement for what needs to be done with the entry form (that can't be saved), the uncompressed wav file (that has to be zipped by itself?) and the naming schemes on the whole damn thing?

The entry form should be filled out for each entry. You can either submit it via e-mail when the form spaws your mailer or you can upload the xml file it generates .BasharOfTheAges wrote:what exactly is the requirement for what needs to be done with the entry form (that can't be saved), the uncompressed wav file (that has to be zipped by itself?) and the naming schemes on the whole damn thing?
As for the naming scheme Julius was basically saying something I assume most people would do. Name the file in some way we can identify it. I'd include a text file with detailed info or you could name the xml file generated by the PDF the same thing if you are uploading it also.
FTP entry formats are covered in the initial post:
"FTP entries must be in MPEG-2 format and the wav file of your audio should be compressed into a rar file ( http://www.rarlabs.com/ ) or a zip file. Anime Central AMV staff recommends that you include a method to check file integrity such as a par2 file, sfv file, or a md5 checksum."
I had this rule about uncompressed audio last year in the specifications but only about 25% of entries adhered to it. I'm hoping for better compliance this year. It solves a lot of problems because I don't have to deal with people muxing in different kinds of PCM audio streams, ac3, or mp2 that I may have to re-compress to make a DVD version of the contest.

uh.... outlaw, you do realize that a lot of people use no common sense in naming their videos? I have enough trouble getting people to give me their contact information and heck even music selection for videos much less naing their vids in any form of coherent manner! I have some stories from the years of Tekkoshocon and Ohayocon's contests.
But basically guys with how the form was made if you are uploading just use some common sense and name it as julius listed or in some way that makes it easy to id your videos. The fact is that you name it adventchildrenvid.avi is not gonna help us out very much at all.

Actully since they're raring I should just have them include a text file in the rar with the neccesary information it'll be easy to identify then.Illia Sadri wrote:uh.... outlaw, you do realize that a lot of people use no common sense in naming their videos? Really sorry I can't attend this year, the contest sounds like it'll be alot of fun ^^; Maybe I'll be able to get my butt in gear and get a video done by the deadline...
I enjoyed my years as staff for the ACEN contest, but life has prevented me from continuing. Last year it was work kept me away from the con, this year I'm moving to Korea ^^; If I can finish a submission, I'll upload it to my sister's computer and have her mail it in for me ^^;
If there's anything I can do to help ya'll out with pre-con stuff (or even post-con, like creating a DVD of the contest), let me know. I'll have alot of free time once we move (won't have to work, just get to play housewife ^^), and I'd love something interesting to do.

PS - While packing stuff, I've discovered tape copies of some of the previous contests. Is there a place I can upload these after I capture them? I'd love to have them preserved better than in a box in my basement ^^;
