Do ____ count?

Post by TheYoshMan » Tue Mar 13, 2007 10:09 am

Well- I'm just wondering, since I'm in the making of something of a tribute to Wc3 and want to know if I'll be allowed to upload it to a-m-v.org. I know a couple of people made FF AMVs and I think I remember one person making a WoW AMV, but I'm not sure if something like a Warcraft3 video would count..?

No. Please check the video entry/video upload rules very carefully.

For video game footage, only Japanese video games are acceptable.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I am fairly certain that the general consensus is that the video game in question must be Japanese in origin with generally anime like character designs. So, no, it probably does not count.

in order to be considered an amv over half the video material shown must by anime or japanese games, the way to get around this is to have your entier warcraft amv scenes (say it's 2 minutes total) and then add completely random anime scenes to random music after it that last for 2 minutes 1 second, therefore you fit the requirements for making an amv, u could have a note at the halfway mark that people should only watch the second half of the amv if they are very very bored

i'm a little high after drinking soo much caffine this morning so this post may or may not make sense

That's grounds not only for vid removal but for more serious consequences.

Hmm...i don´t know, but i can´t see any rule here that says "only japanese games" ....you know also american games can be anime-styled, imo......
Or have i overseen somewhere a rule???

As soon as there are enough examples to warrant debate, the rules will be further clarified to exclude those.

The following is from the site definition of anime:
Video Games

In order for a video game title to be accepted as anime, it must meet the following criteria:
• Games must be made in Japan under the control of a Japanese company.
• Games must be in the style and spirit of anime (not based on North American or other country icons).
• The game may premiere outside of Japan so long as the above criteria is met.
Examples: Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi, Final Fantasy 7, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, Resident Evil
