Announcing the dumbledore thing would have spoiled the book. The Captain America thing however isn't a spoiler, it's pretty much the premise of story. IIRC the news made a big deal of Superman dying (he came back), Robin dying (he got replaced), and Batman's back being broken (he got better).

Actually the day Superman "died," was the day I got into comics (and still am). That was 7th Grade and...14 or 15 years ago?

I basically heard on the radio "This is the day that Superman died." and they made it sound all serious and real. I figured I should get the issue and hold on to it (I didn't know the whole heroes never die thing) and on my way to pay I picked up another comic (X-Men #1 by Jim Lee and Chris Claremont before he went crazy) and from that point on, was hooked.

Ahhhh memories :)

He gets gunned down in Captain America #25 (the most recent Cap series), which is only a Civil War tie-in, not Civil War itself.

Civil War was total crap :|

Dumbledore wasn't an American icon.

Yeah, we're all poseurs, and who gives a shit.

Nope. It was one of the worst giant cross-overs ever. If you've only read teh first three issues though, then you're basically right on the tip of where it goes from "flawed but still sort of interesting and enjoyable" to flaming pile.

My mom is dead... no wait... she's just in Mongolia. Pretty much the same thing.

It wasn't the real Captain America! That was just some other guy in his costume. Isn't Marvel the ones who like to kill wolverine like 3 times?
