I'm new, and though I haven't talked to many people from the board, no one has been mean to me or acted truly elitist. I haven't gone to cons, though, so I can't really comment on that aspect. This is all just my personal thoughts.

It's sad that this community is becoming so divided. I can understand not wanting to post here much anymore because of the offtopic garbage, but that's why I mainly stay in the top few forums. I'm here because I like videos and if I make a few friends along the way, great. If not, oh well. If someone is rude to me, I just shrug it off and keep going. Maybe I just haven't been in this community for very long.

What I see going on here is basically what every online community goes through. It's no different.

I wish everyone could get along and there be no bad feelings between anyone. Then again that's never going to happen.

Sometimes I feel like I'm on the outside looking in, but oh well I guess.

Radical, I think I have to disagree with you there. And there is no real hostility here. No one's going to hold a grudge because of something another person says on a forum. This is much better than spam.

i think my first post came out exactly as i had wanted it to come out.
im glad there are people who agree with me... and i'm glad there are people who disagree and keep bringing up AWA.

you've got to keep in mind though that i'm judging all this on my OWN experiences. and stories i've heard.

i doubt anyone would really walk up to me and say 'hey... i'm a dick head.'

because that doesn't happen...

to ME amv creators carry a cocky attitude.
i've yet to see otherwise.

Personally I definitely dont carry a cocky attitude about my amvs.. in fact I think they're utter crap (thats why i never released any of them :p) although knowing how to|?!|2473 dvds and such does give off some 1337ist fumes. Not noob-hating ones, just kind of hey, look what I know how to do, I'm cool (not that it isnt earned, it does take a lot of work to do that kind of crap) and u gotta admit, it is pretty cool 8)
