how the hell did you get this job?

stories about people that are too stupid for the work they do

back in highschool, me and another student got into an argument. a person anoyd by our bickering said "please shut the fuck up".
i don't recall what came directly after that, but he somehow got pulled into the arguement.
(we should have shut the fuck up)

the teacher said "he asked nicely, in a rude way".
i said "that's an oxymoron".

not knowing the word, she assumes that i'm calling her a moron and goes crazy. she consults with 2 other teachers who happened to be in the room, and neither of them knew the word either. they said i was making up a word to cover for calling a teacher stupid.

they send me to the office. i explain to a dean. he does not know the word.

finally, they call me back to the room after looking it up in a dictionary.

they tell me to never use the word again, and that "it has 2 definitions. it can also mean a foolosh person".

i declined to call her a moron, though tempting.

You know, in Massachusetts back in 1998, they gave their teachers a test that was deisgned to assess a 9th grader's educational level. 59 percent of them failed it. Granted this was a while ago, but I doubt it's gotten better. There is an old saying: "Those who can, do. Those who can't teach."

(The irony is: I want to be a teacher. Thankfully, I know what an oxymoron is.)
Life's short.

This story has to be bullshit.

Any teacher dumb enough to not know the meaning of oxymoron, and not smart enough to look it up shouldn't be teaching in the first place.

I'll do a test on monday where I work. I'm curious now.

Report back results, if you don't mind.

it's a very sad fact that it's true.
it's florida. that should be explaination enough.

i've got another one about a teacher. my current teacher, actually (tech school).
a teacher who doesn't know as much about graphic design as she wants students to believe, and thus she often gives false info.
of course, i used to think she really did know all there was to be known about it.
i'm nearing the end of the program, and this school year i started to realize how many mistakes she makes.

just as an example, she insisted that it's ok to call a computer a "CPU".

she was doing a lesson on saving a clipping path from photoshop. she said that you can only save of with an EPS. i said that you could also do it with a TIF.
she tells me that i'm wrong, and continues.

she has an unrealistic view of what a work place is like, since she'sonly gotten to be a teacher. says that anyone working in an office should be wearing suits every day.
other things too, but i'm tired of typing :/

Same issues here on my end. One teacher I had (who has a doctorate in chemistry) is teaching math. She doesn't know a thing about what she's teaching, and has actually taught the wrong way to work problems. I actually had to re-teach myself material on several occasions. Oh, and she couldn't use a graphing calculator either.

Oh, and my EAST lab teacher know jack crap about technology and tries to act like she knows what she's doing. For example: We're getting ready to send a football program to printers, and she asks us: "Well what about the pixel ratio?" I reply, knowing that she doesn't know a thing about what she's talking about "It's fine." She goes along with it.

when i was in highschool my Geometry teacher insisted in teaching us that "cow milk is bad, dont feed it to your kids (when you grow up or have kids or whatever) give them soy milk instead because there are less horomones in soy milk than cow milk" and "The Matrix is an okay movie for your kids, because it only has all sorts of violence and no sex in it" (i was still in highschool when the FIRST matrix came out... i bet hes eating his words after seeing the "temple sex orgy dance thing" in the second one O: heh) needless to say it has nothing to do with geometry so why was he teaching us these things?

the "teacher" i had in college told us not to take any of the teachers in the program i was studying in as a "gruru" yet when we didnt treat him as a gruru it pissed him off to no end... but thats why alot of actors get a bad reputation... because they are asses.

That' actually true
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
