This site has lists of songs performed by various artists. For each song it details the different albums it appears on. We also point directly to the versions on online music libraries. You can download (or play if you are a subscriber) the song directly from: eMusic, iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody.

This site is a place to start if you're looking for a legal file of a particular song.

I use Discogs several times a month, but it's always a minor hassle wading through all the information they provide. Song-list is nice and simple, a place to make a quick check of the major online listings. The downside is that their list is centered around better known names.
