Conundrum

Post by LightWarden » Mon Feb 12, 2007 1:40 pm

I am faced with a problem. I have a favorite AMV that's the result of tons of work by many creators to some of my absolute favorite music: The Animix Project. The problem is that it is so awesome I want to show as many of my online friends as possible, but most of them balk at the prospect of downloading a 700 MB file.

Should I consider talking to the Animix team and seeing if they'd be willing to consent to having their work uploaded on "the Tube"? I'd like to create an Animix account there, apply for director status (allowing the user to upload videos longer than 10 minutes), upload the 5-part series (with the information regarding song, artist, anime and creator in each section) and then turn the account over to the animix team, but I don't know if they'd want to have their works uploaded in the den of weasels, especially if it's of lower quality than the fully glory.

What do you guys think? Should I proceed with this plan, or call it of? I really like this AMV, I just don't know how I can show more people.

Download it and invite them all over.

Or

700 Megs should fit nicely on one VCD, do that and then hand out the VCD, they can play it with their DVD players.

Problem is that these are mostly e-friends from outside of my area, which makes it difficult to transfer anything that isn't purely digital. Though I have shown it to the few fans I know in person.

i wouldnt recommend getting a directors account and uploading coppywrited material...

the directors account is a "contract" between you and the tube stating that you will only upload your own works...

and since "AMVs" fall in a category of "coppywrite infringement" you could find yourself in some trouble if you are "caught"

I'd recommend doing the CD thing, burning it to disc and either sending it to them, or showing them in your house...

Half the video size and encode using h.264/vorbis/mkv,
which will look decent at 2MB/min, around 120MB total
(and much better looking than you-tube, for sure).

"Oh well, your loss."

Problem solved. 700 megs in this day and age is nothing.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

x2

And you could just burn the file on a blank CD or DVD as a data file too.

Have them arrested, falsely convicted of a crime, and offer them the option of anti-aggression treatment to opt out of imprisonment with your special program whereby you restrain them while propping their eyes open and forcing them to watch Animix.
