I think it's your modest, unassuming nature that draws people in.

When I like an anime, I have an urge to find something cool for it, not a full episode though, like an AMV. All I have to do is search for what I want, generally there is at least one really cool one for a show I like, and I satisfy my urge.

That's why I like it.

my top 5 reasons, not neccessarily in order of importance

1: Huge database of amvs, some of which are actually good and worth watching ;p
1.5: Ability to navigate this huge database and find the ones worth watching
2: Free uploading of your amvs to let other people see them, or just storing them in a safe place
3: A place to socialize with people who share the same interests
3.5: The .org forums (at least as far as i have seen) are not cluttered with tons of useless posts made by unintelligent people which usually end up in 10 page flame wars (unlike many gamming sites)
4. There are very few sites like this which are purely dedicated to amvs and cater to amv makers and watchers alike.
5. The banners

Since sto posted off his rant I feel he has a bigger e-peen than me therefor I must post mine. Of coarse mine will make very little sence else I'd just be repeating what inthest said....

Anyway I started... well I started on the internet WAAAY back in like 93 on Prodigy... but anyway. Fast forward to 99 cuz that's all that matters.

Back than I'd visit Delphi forums, it's basically just forums, cuz socializing is all I did ;p. That got me into a gaming... no, a computer geek forum first! (Sharky extreme) They had a section they called PCvsConsole that I grew to love. Alot of cool people EXCLUSIVELY went there...

So much that they first started their own (I'm never one to take a position of authority, long time user, big time scaredy cat ;p) forum called PCvsConsole of coarse!! Delphi forums was/ is (delphi.com) just an old version of PHPBB... it looks alot like the old org forums did! And that forum was the 5th biggest from like 99-01... no biggy cuz as young as the internet was, from 5 on down was just teeney niche forums lol. But anyway it was cool to say.

Moving along QUICKLY to 2001 the big honcho there decided to build his own site, pcvsconsole.com! (check it! it's awesome!!) This is where we get into the parts that have to do with this question. We'd obviously found why the org is big, cuz there's nowhere else for info on many studios like CDVV, BSP (RDS has their own webpage) and so on... NOT the ONLY reasons ya bastards, BUT... yeah. And EXCUSE me if you DO have a web page, Ileia!! Sheesh.

Anyway in 2001 they moved to their own design and I REALLY like their formula for success. First of all the forums. EVERYTHING starts with the forums. They don't depend on any premade design like delphi (mlb.com) or phpbb (TONS... including here...) Their forum is SPECTACULAR, it deserves a freaking Nobel peace prize. I mean, seriously, it could stop wars. OK I love the fact that you won't find another forum ANYWHERE like it (I mean tons are like it, you log in and you post, but it IS unique over all), the thing most people liked best is that it was SO streamlined nothing competes with that forum over dialup (and the picture show when you log in). Tiny things like that. But also, like this forum, they are always willing to add needed features. That is also huge.

But the forums is not where it ends. Luckily pcvsconsole.com also has a quu type guy behind the scenes that does ALL the work -_- (his name is AssassinPVC, not the admin, ChairmanSteve). I don't know if it was Assassin or Steve's idea, but one of them made a link where you could ask this 'artificial intelligence' (HANK... I forget what the acronyms stood for) some really off the wall questions and you knew it wasn't automated as MANY of the answers were absoluteley LACED with sarcasm -_-. Anyway unfortunateley I think they dumped that concept, no idea why, they updated it fairly frequantly and it seemed to be doing fine. Also not all the answers were sarcatic. If you asked it an intelligent question it gave an intelligent answer. And quite an impressive reputation of predictions as well!

OK they also allow user reviews. Some of my FAVORITE things to do are review/ op ;p. WHAT?? I'm a cocky bastard... Oh! (thanks to me ;p) they pretty much use their own lingo, kinda' like how utoob is automatically changed to whatever. Well their lingo is lead on by the word 'BLEEM!' (Bleem lives on! Though in this case it's just a bleep... though swearing is just as common just not as cool). I called myself a cocky bastard one time and they changed it to 'roostery' so that's a new call sign as well. They used to have a dictionary to look up all these words (along with big names in the PC or Console industry such as John Carmak, Hideaki Ano or The Burger King ;X).

So anyway, yeah. Just some fond memorys that may help a struggling gaming site. They had also done contests and such... but the awards never go out (cept for the custom avatars one...)... due to the close community that just spurs on discussion lol. I like to go back there occasionaly with my 'Knowstradamus' nickname. Don't be alarmed -_-.
