Opinions, comments, feedback: What do AMV makers want?

I would say that it is rare to get critics, comments and ops (without exchange) from people you don´t no. Completly strangers.

Which for some of us, translates to "no one is going to say anything without you asking", as most everyone is a complete stranger. Although if that's the case no one is watching either, so...

(Which is frustrating, I hate having to ask all the time)

People fear giving *real* reviews. Remember the majority of folks on here are between 15-23. The closer to 15 the person you're reviewing, the more likely it is that if you get a bad review, you'll have one coming your way too. So why bother getting YOUR site downvoted just because someone else's video sucked?

i dont really think that age has much to do with it... ive seen adults on this site get just as snitty as teenagers... but at the same time i know several teenagers that are mature enough (or have been making videos long enough) to brush off bad ops, and not take anything too personally...

"revenge opinions" though is a major factor, i know sometimes ive not left ops cause i suspected someone might stoop to that level (which for me is an annoiance due to "drama" more than anything, i really dont care about my overall scores THAT much to worry about a revenge op)

and thats one of the reasons why "Quick Comments" are annon... (yea i cant believe i am saying this either :/ ...) so you can give an "honest" opinion without fear of retaliation or a "revenge opinion"...

of course, I'll say the same things weather or not im annon, but thats just me.

I'd suggest we don't have 30 year olds on here writing up "u r teh sux!" opinions.

I'm with you. I'll still give someone a honest review. I just know that almost verbatum, if they didn't get a "HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED POCKY!" review and I am honest with what they could improve, then - funny! - my scores seem to go down from their normal clip.

Scores will go down as the opinions average out if you get one 10 and then two 9s and then an 8... it will go down. The more you get... the better your idea of the median score of your video.

But I really don't care much for the ops. I mean it's nice to see what other people think of my video and what I can always do to make my next one better. I cuckle at the "U R DA BOMB" ops. Makes me happy for actually thinking I have a working brain cell

Nah, QCs aren't too rare for me, it's the OPs I get without asking that are rare. I think I've gotten maybe 3 or 4 of those out of 233.

Sure you reach your median eventually, but I don't think anyone on here will deny that the scores are already overly-inflated as is. I'll be frank in that the vast majority of the "Top 10%" I can't stand nor think are on the "top side" of the 10%.

At the same time, I remember the old system and this is certainly FAR better in terms of averaging and weight (i.e. more opinions means the scores become more and more valid...i.e. people agree or don't), however with the way Ops go on this site, it's no surprise "bad" videos still make it on there. I'm sure everyone knows of at least some opinion abuse. I can think of plenty, of which a few had been punished.

Now of course the Top 10% isn't a total indicator of the entire site, however it's supposed to be "the top" and thus one can infer things about the rest based on "the best."
