Opinions, comments, feedback: What do AMV makers want?
Pretty much since I joined a-m-v.org, I've been under the impression that AMV editors want only opinions that are constructive, detailed, and from other AMV makers - in other words, that opinions are only valuable to AMV editors if they're filled with constructive criticism from highly knowledgeable people.
That totally ruled me out, and I've been merrily downloading AMVs from the site for years without leaving any comments or opinions - nothing beyond the mandatory star rankings.
Recently, though, I've been told that that impression is wrong. So, my question to you:
What kind of feedback do you want on your AMVs? Do you want to get the "I watched this and I liked it" kind of comments? Do you want any opinions, even if they're not particularly detailed or deep? Or do you want only constructive, detailed, thoughtful opinions from very qualified sources?
In short: what do AMV editors want to hear from the masses of non-AMV-making viewers? Nothing? Something? And if something, what? I'd love to know.

I suppose I should also mention something I forgot in our previous discussion: there will always be some people here who just like a good ego stroking, who like to see praise and high scores more than concrit.
I don't know if this is the case in other fandoms as well (substitute "Internet fame" for "high scores", perhaps), but why else would you have people stripping the credits from AMVs they didn't make and then uploading them on Yuu'utsube claiming they made them?

I will happily accept a "Good job" or "That sucked" just so I can get a general impression of audience reaction. But half the time with my videos positive audience reaction isn't my goal...so I'm not sure where I'm supposed to go with that. :O
Most of the time I'm happy to see that people get where I'm going with stuff.

A few more personal bits:
It makes me happy to hear that one of my happy videos has brightened someone's day.
It's also good to hear that one of my dramatic videos really pulled at someone's emotions.
And it's VERY good to hear that one of my videos convinced somebody to check out the animé I used, if it's an animé I really like.

Don't just tell me how great the AMV was and how much you loved it, tell me why it was so great and why you loved it so much!
Seriously, honesty is good and always appreciated.

Pray 4 peace! Not an AMV, something you can do to help!

I'm most happy when someone leaves an op that displays knowledge, not necessarily on how to make a video but rather that the person can see what I was attempting to accomplish. If they can do this alone without any other input aside from the video profile page, then I will have no problem taking their criticism even if I feel it is harsh at times.
