Sick of the whole AMV thing?

Post by hackerzc » Wed Feb 07, 2007 7:55 am

I don't know what it is but I'm really getting tired of the whole AMV thing. Just something about it does not seem right anymore. It doesn't have that draw it did half a decade ago. When I have the time to actually work on something, I can barely muster up enough drive to start anything new. When I do it's never some big complicated project where I "do the best I can". It's always something simple and lazy. Hell the last time I actually TRIED to do something impressive was in 2003. Since then I just haven't given a crap.
Anyone else going through the same thing... or better yet been there and found a solution to it?
I don't know, I'm simply curious if it's just me or if something has changed.

i make amvs because i enjoy them, not to try to do something impressive...
(or to see the combinations i want to see)

i rarely think that my videos are going to "impress" anyone O.o

You are right..a lot of editors have problems like you. Especially me. I could do something great, I know I could. But..I get so damned lazy soooo fast and in the end it just kinda sucks :(

Also the whole AMVing changed. Now it seems more like a big competition and some idiots are just doing amvs to ''PWN'' other people.

This is just not right..

AMVING IS NO WAR! DAMNIT!

i think that the whole competition thing has been around for quite some time, its just more prominant now (to you) cause youre more involved with the community O.o

i think that depends on the person, some people really get off on competing...

i personally dont compete with anyone but myself, id like to think that i try to improve or try something slightly new/different with each video, but sometimes its fun to take a step back and watch the riots insue lol..(okay maybe not riots)

either way competition can be good/bad but only depending on the person... and their approach to competing...

You misunderstand my meaning. I did not say "try to impress" but rahter "something impressive". By impressive I mean things that have thought, time, and effort put into them. Not some crap you spit out in 8 hours one day.

I use to like making them, but for some reason the joy is gone and I don't know why. I wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen. And no, I will not simply stop. I have too many ideas, to much ability (which I have barely even shown), to just walk away.

yes  Starting something is always really hard, then first editing is ok, but after some time I just get pissed and want to throw the vid away :(
