Same here! ^.^JaddziaDax wrote:DVD back-ups and lagarith files
I need to back things up on a external hard drive I don't touch, that is the best way to back up IMO. I use all my external hard drives though, I think I have 1 or two somewhere, but they are full of things I don't want to go through. Maybe sometime later I could get a new one and then store the videos on that. Right now most of my videos are on one of my internal hard drives. They are also backed up to an external hard drive that is always being used on my computer I think.
Did I need to explain all of this? No so why did I? I don't know?

I back up my huffy and lag files to my external HDs, along with burning them to DVDs. Just in case I ever have the urge to remaster a video, I'd like to have a lossless copy available. Plus, since I'm trying to author some DVDs for convention distribution, it's nice to have the highest-quality video files for conversion to MPEG-2.

I back up the source files in a zip archive (after converting said source files to Lagarith, and maybe PNG and FLAC), and have a Lagarith-FLAC MKV that I use as a lossless master copy - it gets stored with the rest of the general encodes I make of the video (as it stands now, that would be VCD, SVCD, DVD, Low-res DVD, XviD, H.264 distro, and H.264 ultra-HQ), and those are zipped up and put on DVD-R with the source files, usually.

Well, personally, I'd still like to make an AS compilation DVD once Cyanna and I have enough videos to fill one.Zarxrax wrote:I just keep high quality xvids with uncompressed audio. Are you really ever going to need your masters again? I just figure whats done is done...
Problem is that I no longer have even so much as an MPEG-2 of "Haruko the Superfreak"... I'll have to bug Ashyukun to send me his copy.

I considered flash drives. . . then I realized I don't have the cash for that many flash drives.Kusoyaro wrote:If you don't like DVD or spare HD options, I'm not sure what else there is you can do :/ Um...tape drive?
I guess DVD is the best option for me, I just have to stop stepping on my DVDs. . . .I typically don't back up the source footage since each video features over 20 gigs worth.
Yes, I'm pretty bad about cleaning up my comptuer equipment. There's about twenty cables coming out of my computer at any given time.
