You guys whine WAY TOO MUCH about YouTube. I honestly do not feel that there is anything wrong with YouTube. Now granted some shmucks put full copies of episodes on there. Ok that's one thing and no, it should not be allowed. However, YouTube actually benefits you because the actual FAN BASE is on YouTube. Also, you might be running a little scared because it could be taking away from your revenue and your audience? Is that just the slighest bit of possibility? Or perhaps did you ever think of opening a dialogue with the company in question might be a good idea?

Why not work with YouTube instead of hating it? Why not use it to your advantage rather then freak out that all amv's will disappear from the face of the earth.

And by the way, you'd be surprised what can happen when you just talk to people [meaning companies like record labels, anime studios and so forth.]

If you use business logic you'll see that everything falls to one important medium: the bottom line ergo, cash flow. Record companies, anime studios are so forth are afraid of losing money. So what do they do? That's right - force YouTube or the .org to take down amv's by certain artists or they say to remove material that has a certain anime in it.

Actually, it is their right to do so. However when its your site - its another matter entirely. In that respect, you can open a dialogue and maybe something might be accomplished.

The org is non-profit and run on donations. No one is stealing anyone's revenue. Or audience for that matter. We just generally have a problem because a)They draw unnecessary attention to the hobby, which could eventually get this happy little hobby haven shut down. Yes, the companies have every right to do it. We'd just rather they didn't. b)People upload our vids over there without permission, sometimes taking credit for it. And then people come here to complain about it like the mods here can do something about it.

Crap! My reply didn't take I don't think. No, your right Katie about it being made for home movies and smaller productions and such.

In fact a few of the things I like to watch on YouTube are not neccessarily amv's but the show about the Ninja, some funny animal videos and of course my favorite the Verb and Noun.

The only reason why we're there is because people started emailing us and asked us to go there. Little did we know they were doing this and giving us credit of course. We didn't yell at them for it, we thanked them. We also utilize it for the other productions and stuff we have going on. So it works well for J&P overall.

They've been doing that since the day amv's came into existence. YouTube & a-m-v.org are not the only place in existence where amv's exist. Before there was youtube there was winmx, morpheus, kazaa, napster and edonkey and there still is. People were stealing amv's back then and putting their own names on them. We've called a few people on their crap and you know, the amv's were credited to us the same day or we just report them for violation. Of course, mods here can't do anything because they have no power at youtube however there are things you can do at youtube too to stop people from doing that. So whining about youtube really is not a big deal. Before youtube there was peer-to-peer and they were doing it then. The only difference is youtube is surpassing the .org in viewership and that could be a problem.

i just dont like hearing people complain HERE about amvtheivery thats happening THERE... when theres really much not much nothing "here" can do about "there"

Yea, it worked out great with the person who talked to wind up records "on our behalf."

Yeah but at least Phade tried and that's the important thing. A dialogue can go either way. If you at least try then that's a good step. By the way, I agree with Phade's course of action where that was concerned. I wasn't bashing that situation. I applaud him for his efforts that he took because I think they were for the benefit of the .org. Sometimes you don't win but if you don't try you'll never know.

When they took my Inuyasha vid off of Youtube, I tried too but there was very little I could do. You'll never succeed unless you take a step forward and the important thing is Phade did take a step forward.

I would never disagree with the course of action that he took.
