Lighting Flares in After Effects

Post by DJ_Izumi » Sun Jan 21, 2007 7:01 pm

No, NOT lense flares. Just flares. I've done some work with Trapcode's 'Lux' filter, however it is limited as it can really only do the directional lighting coming out of spots and round blobs out of omnidirectional lights.

I'm wondering if someone can suggest a plugin for AE that can give me a lighting effect more like the flares seen in this image:

I think you could make something like that with a combination of masks, and some effects like gaussian blur, shine, and starglow.

Also check out this tutorial: http://www.creativecow.net/articles/myl ... index.html

It shows you how to build your own lens flares from scratch. Now that's what I call hardcore. Vicbond has nothing on this.
