Try changing your strings. If you're going to play regularly, it's worth it anyways to get a string set that you're going to be comfortable with. Also, try hitting it normally and looking closely at the way the string is vibrating. If it's bouncing off the fretboard, you've got problems with your setup and either need to adjust your bridge or get a guitar that doesn't have a warped neck.guy07 wrote:woah,a actual musician!! quick question, i bought this cheap ass elec guitar, and the bottom E vibrates way too much and sounds like a syntar or whatever, any ideas on how i can fix that? And it's not a tighness problem, i'v tried adjusting it.
Where and how did you get this instrument, what's the make, and how much did you fork for it? I dropped $150 on my first axe (BC Rich Bronze series, Indonesian build) and while it keeps going out of tune, I haven't had any setup problems.
I forget if I've posted in this thread already or not, but I play bass (classical upright and metal electric) and halfass at guitar. Sooner or later I'm going to actually spring for a MD player and be able to resurrect my old demos, but for the moment all I have out is this: Tenebral Presence demo. (be careful, crufty free hosting site)
I'm currently working on reviving Coelem, but this means writing new music and to a certain degree learning to play my instruments correctly again. I still have all my calluses, fortunately, but my chops aren't near where I want them to be.

My guitar cost about 120 (CDN), now that u mention it a warmed neck might actully be the problem, it makes sense ...but i found a temporary solution in the forum of a capo which makes it sound way better. Mines a BridgeCraft Strat immitation, dont remember the model # and stuff. It's not a bad guitar, i have tuning problems like i would with any other cheap guitar but i am using it for electronic music so i'll be distorting it so much it won't really matter what it sounds like. lol.
Thanks for the help kai.
Now, back to the pussy farts.

If the capo is fixing it, then it sounds almost like there's a problem with the nut at the headstock not holding the string in place properly. It'd explain why it's only the low E affected, but unless it's a used axe and some idiot decided to put a super-heavy gauge string on for some ridiculous drop tuning at some point and gouged it out, I dunno how you would end up with a busted nut.

Fact: Blowing grass "whistles" was a plot point in Final Fantasy Tactics.
Fact: I am an enormous dork.
I was a church pianist/organist for about seven years ('98-'04). I'm not religious, but my piano teacher at the time was canvassing for recruits. I could die happy without ever hearing "How Great Thou Art" again, let me tell you. It was a decent weekend job, though. At a big church with a choir, you can make some serious bank. (Yeah, yeah. I'm already going to hell for better reasons than saying that. And it's true.)
In my case it was less gothy-awesome and more that scene from The Simpsons where the old lady plays "In A Gadda Da Vida" and then keels over.

I've been composing a song since high school... sadly I have difficulty translating the music in my head and voice to notes on the staff... so it hasn't gotten very far along.
I was a band geek. I played Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Percussion and Piano. And I was in choir...
I've had a metronome of a 'female' claping a beat in my head since '92. sure makes DDR easier.
