All things have demographics - if you want to make something that plays to one crowd ( ie: "Lets make a vid that will seriously make people who like ____ kind of video drop their jaws" ) then obviously it wont make another type of crowd go crazy.

Sometimes it helps to diversify what you make if you have the time and inclination: I've seen some AMV'ers who reffuse to do drama and only make fight vids, and vice versa. Some try both and in the process make something both sides might like simply because they like the editor. Rare, but it happens

In the end if you have time to experiment w/ genre videos, hey, why not? I've never made a romance video but I might be great at it vs. cut-heavy themed videos?

You are in a hobby full of teenage males who just want to see pointless violence, pointless effects, and lots of tits. The ultimate video for these people would be Naruto beating the hell out of Sakura with lots of flashes, overlays, and other shiny effects then at the end he tears off her top so we can see bouncing boobies. You can pander to this group. You can mock this group. You can ignore this group. But one way or another if you'll need to deal with this group if you're going to stay in this hobby.

I'm always prone to thinking way too much so maybe I should do something simple and sweet for my next amv. After that, I think I'm going to dabble a bit into the craziness of flcl and try something cheerful. I'll just make to experiment.

Can anyone say Saikano and Somewhere over the Rainbow?

Maybe that's a bit too simple and sweet.

If I did that combo, that would be one messed up vid.

(I tend towards weird, creepy vids. . .or weird, funny vids. Either way, its usually weird and/or wrong in some way.)

And way to go! Never submit! Keep the weird vids!!!!!

But yes, the Saikano amv idea that popped into my head does sound weird...but it's either that or Because by the beatles...I'm debating...

That one would probably end of trippy and the like.

Though I guess its good that not everyone does weird vids, because then they wouldn't be weird anymore.

Yeah, when you said that combo and I started thinking, I immediately was thinking death and destruction with maybe the occasional happy image just to make it that much more amusing. Beatles would be trippy too.
