Thank You, Heavy Machine Gun - The AMV Podcast: Ask away!

Post by Decoy » Mon Jan 08, 2007 5:16 pm

Because of the current influx of new editors on the Org, a few other editors and myself decided we needed some kind of way to communicate to the entire community at once. It's been discussed time and again that a-m-v.org isn't really any one community, and we thought a broadcasted discussion about AMVs could help resolve this issue. In some ways, this is an effort to replace RDS Radio with something different - rather than a live broadcast that garners a ton of attention all at once and forces viewers to compete for slots to listen to it, we thought releasing a recorded show that people could just download and listen to locally might make more sense.

So, the idea behind the podcast is more or less a question and answer session, where listeners write in with their questions. The questions can be about the technical aspects of AMVs, the AMV community, anime fandom, or even be off topic and ask us about or favorite foods or life in general. Even though this is a project about the AMV community, so while we will probably focus on talking about AMVs, we're not at all against talking about things in general for us as a community.

As of now, the currently lined up hosts are myself, Fall_Child42, and some stupid drunk Asian who likes Street Fighter. You're free to submit your questions in this topic, or send them via e-mail to my address (decoyops@hotmai.com) or the addresses of the other two hosts (hail.to.the.king@gmail.com or inthesto@graffiti.net).

Above all, though, the point of this podcast is for us to have fun doing the show and the community to have fun listening to it. With any luck, AMV editors as a whole can be more cohesive with this project in full motion.

Here's a question for you Decoy: How long have the doctors given you before you die from AIDS related causes? And a followup question if you don't mind, how does it feel making love to a monkey anyway?

Poes, SERRRIIAAAASSSS.

In all seriousness, I like it, we need some new form of recorded shenanigans now that RDS TV/Radio has moved on to bigger and better things. (See: global domination)

This question will be addressed in the first episode of Thank You, Heavy Machine Gun.

May I suggest a theme for your first podcast? It would all be embedded in the thought of "how to kill the non-stop, constant input of crappy amvs based on Naruto, Final Fantasy and Dragonball - while still encouraging new editors to do their best."

Oh well, I hope you'll have fun with this project.

Just because I am only used to Podcasts being audio, are we talking video interview/talking head kinds of things with clips from good/intresting AMVs? Since AMV'ing is such a visual thing I was just curious as-to what route you wanted to take the "show"

But then again, heck, no matter what method the show arrives in I'd watch/listen!!!

Sounds interesting, we'll see if it gets off the ground and/or lasts long. I the meantime, I'm going to go think of some questions.
