Well I'm in my 5th year of amv editing. I saw my first amv at Otakon 2002. When I saw it "I want to make one of those it'll be cool to see one of my works on the big screen." So it started out as a hobby. In 2003 I released 14 amv's. Then after that I started to slow down and paid more attention to detail of editing. That's when I thought you know I really want to make a great music video. Late that year in 2004 I was able to get a copy of Adobe Preimere 6.0. I'm now studying Video Arts in college. This has been one thing I have always enjoy and still do. Eventhough editing is going to turn into a career for me in the future, I'm still going to have fun with make these amv's.

I saw my first AMV in 2001, it was to this "weird-ass anime named utena, and they got sucked into this big car washing machine thing"... It was a .rm on Meri's Temple o Trunks website. XDD

Why I chose that certain AMV over her DBZ ones to be my very first, though, is beyond me. But ah, yes. The days when .rms were a decent distro format. XDD

i am just now getting into editing amvs, i used to watch them all the time though. for me my attention went into other anime fandom for years though. i enjoy the end result of having a 2-5 minute clip you can be proud of and share with others.

lets see i think i saw my first amv around 2001 or 2000, didnt start editing myself till 2004... i should say it was a whole bunch of first amvs, somewhere in there including "Sugababy Rini" another something to do with Excel Saga, probably some of dokidoki's stuff (life's gonna suck and all that jazz), Evangelion Opus and stuff.. my friend eric made me watch them.

my first fanvideo was at a star trek con in like 1999 or maybe 1998 i dont remember but i was still in highschool O.o

my first anime con was last year's A-kon (cause it was "close") then went to AWA... and zomg AWA is teh awesomest O.O...

Ironically my stance of AMV's and the whole "being crazy" may chance now that I have the ability to rip my VOB files from my some-what nicely sized DVD collection. For years it's been ---sit at computer w/ ps2(or DVD) remote and manually get to where I need to be---

My whole lack of AMV editing was largely because of time and patience with capyureing footage versus the actualy EDITING ...

I used to thinks AMV's were more personal things, things one did to amuse ones self and chums. now its more of a social thing. I wouldnt say 'underground' but largely its not easy to find or teach people how to do AMV work.

Example ~ My roomie Jason likes the stuff I work on, and altough his musical tastes severely clas with mine it's easy for us to still agree some AMV's are undeniably good. ( We watched AMV HELL 3 and he said that was probably the best thing he'd ever seen --- I have little I could compaire that monumental accomplishment to so, I must agree ). He comes up with more intresting video ideas than I admit too but not only his he not great with computers he has little patience for AMV work. I tried to guide him through makeing something and he eventually said that altough he didnt want to seem rude, he didnt know how I had the energy to sit and re-watch and re-listen to the same stuff over and over and over again.

I guess thats one cool thing about AMV makers - ( as has been stated now obviously a lot in this post ) - PATIENCE.

After my firest real 'inclusion' to these forums ( Personal Alchemist ) I can say I rushed it. I really did. I had a good idea, a little footage, and I wanted to make something QUICK. I wanted the video on screen and in front of my eyes before my intrest died away

Hindsight? I should have worked harder on it and waited a little while longer. My longest AMV took 2 weeks of my summer but I adore it to no end. If I can find it I seriously want others to see it. ANYWAY, patience, planning, and effort

How long does it take some of you to make vids? How long is your longest prep-time for a video? Shortest?

I live in a giant bucket. This inspires me to wear a raincoat because Tuesday is coming, while chanting my mantra, "Oh, my friends, that your self be in your deed as the mother is in her child - let that be your word concerning virtue!"

And that is the story of how NTB was made.

Thank you, heavy machine gun,

Yes, I know of ToT. I've known it since it didn't even have it's own domain name. In fact, I think I sat through 2 - 3 hosting/url changes. There was something like dbcollection.com/trunks, then there was some other site, and maybe another I don't remember.

When she finally got templeotrunks.com I had outgrown DBZ. XDD

I'm [un]lucky, in that I was "raised" on the "good" AMVs. Meri was my first editor, AtomX my second, Devolution, VicBond, DcdeveloperX, ssjvegita0609, Klinky, Fatty_VM, YCSTR(who is now a personal friend and was my mentor at the time), dannywilsom, and dwchang soon followed (then everyone who was active on the forums, pretty much).

In 2002 - 2003 I was a huge beta tester, I beta tested and used to make jokes about how I practically edited SnhKnives' first video for him.

So now AMVs of today have mostly lacked their luster for me. ;_;

I only download stuff people tell me to, now. I used to do new vid on the block every now and then, but when I did, there was hardly ever a time I let the thing go passed 1 minute before I deleted the thing because it sucked.
