Hello.
My name's Pande.
>_>;;
Um... Yeah. I'm absolutely new to the making of AMVs. So any help that anyone can offer me (Ie. What sort of program to use for the making of AMVs, which is the best ... etc.) it would be welcomed warmly.
I hope I can make AMVs in the near future... but it has to start somewhere and I've heard this is the best site for making an AMV -- getting feedback on it that's not "This is great! =D" or "This sux! ;[" I hope it lives up to the standards that I've heard of.
I'm going to bet it does however.
So!
Where do I begin?

The first rule of #AMV, is you do not talk about AMV!HoshiNoKaze wrote:I might also suggest hanging around in #amv chat. I'll warn you though, it's kind of random, and questions like "how do I used adobe premiere" are generally frowned upon since there are a lot of guides and threads for that already. But yes, welcome and good luck

Um, #amv (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/irc/) isn't "kind of random", it is USUALLY random. I haven't been on in a couple of months now, but somehow, I miss the chaos.HoshiNoKaze wrote:I might also suggest hanging around in #amv chat. My suggestions:
Watch lots of AMVs. Try to see what makes the good ones good and why the bad ones fall short of the mark. Find AMVs using anime or music you like and contrast the good ones (the Top 10% List is a good place to start) with ones that don't make it. The Top All-Time Star Scale listing is another way to find which videos are rated better than others.
Read the Guides. Start with the General Theory Guides by Phade and Kalium. Then move onto the Technical Guides, primarily AbsoluteDestiny & ErMaC's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video mk2.
Start small. Unless you have a bit of experience in video editing, don't expect to wow the crowd right away. Even though the program is pretty limited and has stability issues, I recommend starting with Windows Movie Maker 2 for WinXP users. Obviously, if you are on a Mac, iMovie is the (superior) equivalent. Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can move onto a more advanced program such as Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, or equivalent (depending on your budget). Here is a list of (non-linear) editing software compiled by TaranT.
Admittedly, some of the better editors here started out differently and improved as they went. Quite a few just started adding stuff to whatever editing program they found on their computer (aside from WMM) and just hacked away, eventually refining their editing skills to what you see now. Others acquired a program like Premiere and took the time to learn it before putting stuff out for public consumption - good and bad.
Once you've completed and uploaded your first AMV, you may want to do an Opinion Exchange to get feedback from others. Of course, an Op Exchange is a give-and-take process so you'll have to give feedback on the other person's video (unless someone is handing out free Ops).
Finally, MAKE WHAT YOU WANT. Even if it is another Naruto video to a Linkin Park song, do it if that is what makes it enjoyable to you. You may not get worldwide acclaim or recognition, but hopefully you've had fun along the way.
