Just felt to share this experience I had....

Like 4 years ago, I was bored and went to Gonzo studio website and decided to send them a mail, questioning their current licensing status.

I used AIM style language and did not leave any name....

then the next day, I received a mail from their manager in formal English telling me ALL of their titles were in the process of licensing to major distribution companies, and left his business mail address if I am interested in the business.....I was amazed...then Loled.

agreed, for the past few years they didnt seem so concerned with quality. ii really wouldnt mind seeing them drop their prices like the other companies have. :\

oh note now they say they are 25 on that myspace page...must be nice to be able to spontaniously change your age liek that

Wouldn't suprise me if this was legit...didn't someone from the org have ADV ask to put their amv on a DVD release? I may be nuts, but I'm thinking it was a Noir amv. (at work right now, but writes down a note to look through Noir DVDs when I get home)

I think ADV has somewhat gotten better in certain aspects...I still only buy US release shows if I really like them and just want higher quality video. And I do agree that their prices in the past have been a little high, but I don't mind the ~55$ price tag on the thinpak sets.

yea that would have been DokiDoki (and like 3 other people i dont remember) and i believe that they were asked to make an AMV for an Easter Egg on one of the DVDs not really the other way around... plus they had to use music from NOIR itself, and not anything they really wanted to do..

on a side note:
Anime Works has been including "music clips" with some of their releases (ive noticed them listed in the extras of Sukisho and Green Green..)

i havent seen the ones on the green green dvds, but the "music clips" on the sukisho dvds are just terrible... like the noobiest of noobs made it... like hey lets put this random clip here and make it run on to really borring music anyways... -_- its bad... zomg lipflap.... gah...

makes me want to take the song and re-edit the thing and send it to anime works and say "this is more entertaining yo!"

as for the topic of ADV's prices, they have been dropping sort of... atleast with the release of the thinpacks... but you get no extras :/

they know what series is the most popular and still over price the ones they know are selling well at that price, they arent fools, they know exactly what they are doing, and they are milking the anime trend for all its worth.
and their dubs are getting better... ish. (either that or my standards are getting lower, i kinda expect all dubs to suck... but i watch them anyways

especially when im lazy)

but their sales are AWESOME when you can hit them.

I would like Funimation to get on the ball, theres a couple releases that they need to make boxed sets for, and they wont do it untill they can milk fma for all its worth. :/

Anime Works has been licensing Shounen-ai series and not even bothering to dub them :/ that kinda pisses me off.. (yet doesnt cause that means that the DVDs are so much cheaper.. but they wont even take the time on them like they dont care about them, but YOU KNOW THAT THEY ARE GOING TO SELL... fangirls.... so i dont think its that they dont think that they will sell... hell probably the not offering a dub could be hurting their sales O.O)

either way im not too stressed about weather or not this myspace is legit... it does seem like a ovbious publicity stunt, several music artists have done it, as well as actors and whatnot... so i wouldnt put it past ADV to do it.
either way im not worried about it anymore
