Okay, I don't understand this.
I've been making AMVs for a certain anime and I've been showing them to somebody else who likes the anime and is also a fellow AMV editor to get her approval, because there's certain AMVs that I'd like to do justice, and I get her approval first, because I trust her. Anyway. So when I showed her a video I recently completed, she wasn't impressed with it, and I asked her what I should change and what I should leave, and she said "Its not so much about the clips. Its about the style of editing. You want to match the video more to the music. I'm not going to tell you what clips to put in because frankly, you know the anime better then I do. You are the only one who can make your video rock. Analyze the video and listen to the song, check the beats and kick up the editing so it matches the tempo and flow of the song.". I'm really confused, because I used alot of fast-paced shots, and I didn't speed any clips up unless I felt they really needed to be.

Read the guides "How to action synch" and "How to Make a Basic Action Video 101".
They should give you some insight.

Ok ramones fan its no secret that a lot of people know your work.. Im not going to bash you, but maby if ya spent more time trying to time the lyrics to the anime, or time the beats it would help things... I am a lot like you, we both have an ungodly ammount of amvs that we have made *i prolly have less then you with only 174 but then again its not ALL about the ammount* you gotta just slow down and work on making the amv the best that you can... I am working on an AMV using WMM 1... and i know that that program is capable of.. so with that being said, you can slow down your editing and make a great amv... its not too late...
in other words try to use more cuts, fade, and so on to match the song...

Of course you have to pick the right song first...it has to be a matching combo.
That girl is saying the same thing anyone will say about AMV making. Listen to the music, match the rhythm and melody. It will take a while to match the whole song, I recommand to do a superb job in the beginning and end as highlight then kinda go cheap in the body part.
BTW, If you want to gain her favor... drop WMM and pick up something that has more functions.
