Problem with h.264 MKV

The only thing I can think of at this point is to try installing Haali's Matroska splitter. That's the only reason I can think of as to why WMP6.4 won't recognize it even with ffdshow set correctly.
The latest version is available here (although it's also available from the previous link I gave to the current ffdshow builds):

During the setup, make sure that AVI is unchecked.
