I'm sure I'll miss a few and I must admit I have not listened to the latest Manowar release :x

Tops for 2006
Virgin Steel-Visions Of Eden
Falconer-Northwind
Elvenking-The Winter Wake
Fairyland-The Fall Of An Empire(When you stop laughing at the name know that it's a really misleading title for a very talented band)
Heavenly-Virus
Pyramaze-Legend Of The Bone Carver
Ancient Rites-Rubicon
Mylidian-The Chaos Prophet
Helloween-Keeper Of The Seven Keys- The Legacy
Cradle Of Filth-Thornography (Oh snap son yes I did)
Winterlong-Metal Technology
Wuthering Heights-The Shadow Cabinet

Flops
Luca Turilli-The Infinite Wonders Of Creation
Dragonland-Astronomy
Korpiklaani-Tales Along This Road
Majesty-Hellforces

--------------------------

The only reason Rhapsody of Mighty Fire is not on the list is cause of the song "The Mystic Prophecy Of The Demon Knight" that's like a movie inside a song, inside a movie..of power.

I'll come back to this later when I remember more.

/end
Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

Stuff I especially liked this year (in addition to those previously mentioned):
Sigh - Gallows Gallery
Dissection Reinkaos...not really Dissection, but as doing Part II of Whoracle because In Flames won't it's all right
Vital Remains - Horrors of Hell; yeah, it's a demo collection, but with no new VR this year, it'll have to do
Samanth Naur - Self Proclaimed Existence, probably the best Polish black metal record that nobody bought
Summoning - Oath Bound
Edguy - Rocket Ride
Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
Deicide - The Stench of Redemption -- I missed Scars of the Crucifix, so Deicide not sucking was a surprise
Drudkh - Blood In Our Wells
Borknagar - Origin
Gojira - From Mars To Sirius

Special mention: Kreator - Enemy of God Revisited. It was awesome last year, and it's MORE awesome this year.

Stuff that disappointed:
Witchery - Don't fear the Reaper -- good enough, but not worth the 5-year wait
Kataklysm - In The Arms of Devastation -- a lot of people like this, but to me it's far too listenable to be a real Kat record
DragonForce - Inhuman Rampage. This was the wrong record for them to break out on, though it's actually not that bad, and more varied than Sonic Firestorm.

I didn't buy a whole lot of new CDs this year, so there's probably some left out; I was mostly working on a list of cult old stuff. Also, since I don't listen to much power metal, I don't encounter nearly as many CDs that suck. :P :P

--K
Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available

"People see rock and roll as, as youth culture, and when youth culture becomes monopolised by big business, what are the youth to do? Do you, do you have any idea? I think we should destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture."
