No, it wouldn't. The entire series has to be mahou shoujo.

I think I'll give it a try.

The only (true) Mahou Shoujo series I seem to have on DVD is Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha and Nanoha A's. But I love that series very much so I will gladly settle with that.^^

Music will probably either be a Mahou Shoujo themed song from Haruko Momoi or ZUN. Something along Magi-Cu or Alice's Theme.
Although Romance worked surprisingly good in RoS3 I will try to aim for a happier Upbeat/Actiony feeling.

I'm not intending to use them but would Digi Charat and Slayers qualify as they have no proper Henshin scenes?

As far as I heard and seen Magical Canan even follows the "Magical Pet goes to Ordinary School Girl and changes her into Magical Girl to defeat Evul Monsters with her newly gained Magical Powers"-Story.
I think you can't really get a more cookie-cutter Magical Girl story then that.

Maybe you're mistaking it for Majikano?
