for me, im doing my AMVs for fun.
But im thinking allready, if coming here to AMV was a good idea.
Sure, i try to improve my skills (like Music&Screen sync cutts etc.etc)

But, staying in Youtube is more right for me. There you can post your AMVs, without to met here the "AMV"s Standarts...

Yes, for a newbie side, there are some kind of "standard" that some must take here or overcome them...

Hard for some new fresh bloods, if the old ones eat them alive...

and, without feedback there is no point to put here their AMVs..

(How i know, what i need to improve or doing wrong?. I know, some Veterans was born with their l33t Skills....)

Perhaps, my last Strain AMV was the last here...

I think it's normal thing in anything that belongs to culture , that people compare one creation , to previous ones similiar in some way. It's not a way of "crushing newbs" but a normal procces that occurs while valuating something. And when a person puts his vid here , that means he wants to hear what other think about it. Moreover , if he is crushed under the heavy criticism that means he didn't made it for fun , but to be praised by others. So( unless you want to encourage us to say "OMG Awesome" at every linkinball or narutoball amv , just for the sake of not hurting creators feelings) I don't really see a problem :S.

Mmm, i was hoping here for help to improve a littel. Not to compare with the others here...

Looks like i misunderstand the meaning of this .Org here, sorry.

And to comapre with the most here, i need Software upgrade :)
Im only working with VirtualDup (Cut) and with Magix Video deluxe 2006/2007 to build my AMVs...

Perhaps, i should squezze more of the Video edit programm...

In some regards, I think it may end up feeling that way for a lot of new people. A lot of the people here, particularly the ones who have stuck around long enough to stop being yougin's in the craft, tend to form groups, many of which are tight knit(ish) ones. When you get people in these sort of close groups, it can sometimes get hard to get into them and get the help that you might need for improvement.

However, I think features of the forums such as the Opinion Exchange still do work effectively enough to learn from them. Know this though... the org's primary purpose has always been the archiving of AMVs... helping each other improve has just been a bi-product of a community developing around that central idea, so in a sense, I guess what I'm trying to say is, no one here is obligated to make sure that new people will make better videos... but I'm running away from the point of the thread now :P

What? I always thought the point of putting our AMVs here was first and foremost to make them available to the general public, and if you get feedback then that's nice too.

Thanks for the input guys. I was reading some past threads and journal entries and noticed that some people quit or are complaining because they thought the bar was getting too high.

In my opinion, a high bar is what makes us strive to get better in the first place.

If you feel that you can't keep up with the bar, get better. :)

I make videos for myself, and if I like them enough, I finish them up and show them to the public. If they like them, yay! If they don't, well, better luck next time. If I win something along the way then that's a bonus!

I don't really care for the "bar" there is.. people can judge my videos and place me in relation to the bar where they see fit. As long as I enjoy watching a video, it's a "good video" to me.. I don't need no "bar" to tell me what I can and can't enjoy. ;)
