Apparently there are some people who are concerned or annoyed at mislabeled AMVs so, no, not everyone will press yes on a mislabeled AMV. This can remove the time barrier on reporting to mods/admins. If it takes a member several minutes to decide whom to address, what to write, and then email a short accurate alert, the odds increase that they will simply say forget it and not do anything at all.
Convenience and accessibility is key.
As for the list, instead of simply providing an "add" option, make the add function perform a search as well.
I.e. "Your artist addition request is similar to these: example1, example2, etc. If the artist is any of these, use the stored name instead. Click on a artist name for their list of songs." You could do the same with songs.
As for the last, that's why there's a community. If it's hard, divide up the work.

I don't think it's very realistic to hope we can fix all the song naes. Especially because there are so many songs that aren't named what people think.Lyrs wrote:I.e. For example, the extremely overused "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot is referred to as "I Like Big Butts" 90% of the time just because that's the first verse.

What i'm getting from this exchange is "If we can think up a way to fix what's there the problem become that people will keep doing it wrong and an endless cycle will be produced."
Well, why not make any new problems past a certain point (after a new system is implimented) have a conseuence? If there's something in place that helps that much and you're still getting bad entries, there should be some sort of - I hesitate to say "punishment" but more of a disadvantage to getting it wrong or on the flip side a reward to getting it right (not a real reward mind you, just take something we already get for free and make that a reward for doing it right). We already have disqualifing factors for VCA participation, how about for VCA voting? Various informational displays? Searching features? Inclusion in search results? Journal privledges? Forum privlages?
People have more insentive to not do it wrong if there will be consequences to their actions - we could run with that idea. Make having incorrect info an undesirable thing.
Just a thought I guess. I still have a bad audio tag for the first video I made forever ago, but i'm suggesting this - It's a legitimate way to go.

It is indeed not "one" system, but several subsystems. One subsystem deals with the Anime labeling, another with the artist/song, helped lastly by a third subsystem which aims to allow user participation in correcting mislabeled AMVs.Kalium wrote:You're not exactly proposing a single system here, Lyrs.
This can't be helped since it seems we are using multiple databases for cataloging AMV information.
However, if all we proposed was a system through which community effort could be utilized to help correct mislabeled AMVs, then we might want to look at the Wiki structure or to use the Wiki software.

Was that the same word? Bashar, don't post when you're high on crack.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Journal privledges? Forum privlages?
And about VCA voting, how many users do we have here that don't vote for anything and use this site only to get free server space for their videos? These kinds of people coincide with the spelling criminals on most cases.

Actually it was extra-strength Benadryl (x2), Valerian root (x2) and extra strength Ibuprofen (x2). I've had a sinus headache since Friday... Oddly enough after I posted I found it was rather difficult to stand properly... or sit up after an hour.Gepetto wrote:Was that the same word? About the proposition though... it's not a terrible idea, is it?

No, not at all. But like all the others so far, it leaves out a bunch of people who couldn't care less.
I think we should implement every possible method, including thumb print mapping.

I'm sure they'd care if their videos no longer appeared in search results or it suddenly became more difficult to look for something - granted these are extreme measures, and most people would probably cave before that.Gepetto wrote:No, not at all. At the most extreme, are "unkown" artist "unknown" anime videos actually contributing to the site's goal of properly cataloguing all AMVs? They have the same tags, right? so it must be the same data. We'd only need one copy of that...
