Huffyuv Help clip problem

Post by -NeciFiX- » Fri Dec 15, 2006 7:59 pm

I'm not familiar with this stuff so I dunno whats happening. I removed my DivX files, all of them, and removed the codec. I thought probably since I removed it, the other files won't work, my clips. So I go in WMM 1.0 to be sure, I was gonna start using Ulead Video Studio 8 trial or w/e its called, however it was shaky and only showed images except for the first 2 seconds, I figured it could be.

A. Not enough RAM
B. DivX

I went with DivX because WMM did the same thing and it usually was unfixable. And I can't fix A. So, after I removed DivX and got Huffyuv I got this when trying to load it up.

I thought MAYBE it was cuz I was lagging but I restarted, no difference. I installed the INF file from Huffyuv, I loaded it onto my desktop. It showed the loading bar for a milisecond and it was gone in a flash it said

Copying Files INF DLL or something 50% cuz I got a screenshot of it but I don't have it anymore.

So how can I reconfigure ALL of my clips to Huffyuv?

wait, so did you re-encode your clips into huffy, or just install huffy?
cause you need to compress them as huffy in vdub, otherwise thats still a divx video

download and install amvapp. then open virtualdumod
open your video in it, and goto video, compression. select eithe rhuffy or lagarith (i use lagarith)
hit ok. file, save as

OKAY Thanks! I'll try this out. One last question, why would the screen be black and I can only hear the sound from the clip, if DivX is still installed in the clip then shouldnt the clip still come up? Just a question. Or does it not because I removed ALL the DivX stuff and removed the codec and stuff?

Perhaps a helpful analogy is in order.

Say you've got a document in Klingon and you have to process it. You have a translator who can translate the Klingon text into English for you, but it's quite problematic at times, and you'd really rather the document was in a language that was easier to work with, say, German.

Now imagine that you kill off everyone who knows Klingon before you get the chance to translate the document into German. You'd be left with a document that nobody could read.
That's basically what you did when you uninstalled the DivX codec. Your video is coming up black because you don't have anything that can read it.

But it's not so bad, because installing the AMVapp will give you someone who can read it (the XviD codec). And then you can get on with translating it into something easier to handle (e.g. HuffYUV).
