To remind newbies to read the guides...
(This one seems to get on the nerves of a lot of you so here's an idea)...
Has anyone ever suggested making a confirmation page to appear after someone makes a new thread in any of the Video/Technical sections of the forum?
It would say something like:
"Please make sure you're question has not already been covered in one of these very helpful guides before posting.*insert link*. Continue posting new thread? *Yes or No*
Good idea?

I propose all newly registered to the site fill out a questionnaire with multiple answers, maybe 5 or 6 options per each question. Then a short essay to prove whether they know anything about spelling and grammer.

Any problem can be solved with judicious use of the mod hammer and possibly large flashy embarassing text in their titles when they fuck up.

Haha^
Between that and Orwell's idea, at least we'll be to keep the mainstream away.
This was my reasoning behind the idea btw;
Whenever I make posts on any forum, I don't expect any kind of confirmation to come up after posting. When something does come up, I'm like "wtf?" and usually take a moment to read what it says.

Main topic: I don't think you will ever eliminate stupid questions. Maybe people don't know that the questions are common, don't know where to look because they aren't well-versed in terms yet and don't know how to describe what's wrong, learn better by having dialogue than reading long technical descriptions, plain old don't care, or make honest mistakes and post before thinking anyway.
I mean, lots of people out in the world make a living by answering stupid questions. It's not a problem that this board has; it's just a part of life. Like traffic, and rain, and head colds, there will be newbie questions. Don't let it get to you, because it's not a giant deal. If you have the patience to deal with newbs, direct them to the answer or answer the question; if not, just ignore 'em and someone else will pick up the ball. (and get voted Most Helpful in the VCAs.

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.
