Attempted Refresher
Random Spontaneity:
I know everyone deals with a slump in different ways .. so im curious what works for you.over a month ago (nearly 2) I had started on a project got slumped didnt know what to do .. so I decided to walk away for a while. I watched a couple of other videos that pertained to the same thing I wanted to do (Effects) and worked on some random scratch art (still doing so). Warcraft also ensued (need to get off that heroine disguised as a game) then I came back to it only to go .. "......Ummmm.. what the hell was I doin here?". Back to point - What works well for everyone else?
(I know there was a thread about this already--- somewhere)
PS:
due to the slump..I've decided to just turn this prjoect into a more of a practice video with effects considering i've never really done any. So I'm probably going to go nucking futs from listening to this club mix techno thing whilst my eye shut off from the colors and flashes (well thats the wish anyway ^.^).

I watch movies...shows....as much media/art as possible...or just get away and go do something else. Good example, I'm working on a rather daunting project right now I hope to have done for AWA Pro next year, and for the longest time it's been in my head, and I've been looking for the kick in the ass to get it rolling.
Kick in the ass #1: going to AWA this year.
I hit a slump again about a month ago because there's just so much to do I don't know where to start...I've gotten quite a few storyboards done on the project thus far, and some of the actual editing work laid out, but I still hit a point where I just go "meh." (is also hard looking for people to beta test it that won't be submitting to pro)
But for some reason, I got the ball rolling again recently after I went on a hike. Just being up on the mountain and away from the computer/outta the house (lots of the time I go running to clear my head too) really did it for some reason. So now not only am I motivated to work on it, but I have hit it with a vengence and it's starting to progress.
I'll be pouring all my force into it as soon as I get some stuff done for another editor I'm working with.
So yea, get out, do things, do stuff you wouldn't normally do, just get away from it for awhile and eventually it will sort itself out for you. The worst thing you can do is force it, or sit and stare at it, etc.

I find challenging myself gets me out of slumps. Not all my experiments have been successful, in fact I have deleted more videos than I've released, but it keeps me interested. I find nothing more boring than just repeating what I've done or seen others do. Granted, sometimes my challenge has been to see how close to the line between 'asshole' and 'banned asshole' I can go so I can't say this is a good trait that has made me a better editor or anything.

Oh, one other thing that motivates me. Sometimes I sit here and think 'If I work at it and become a really really good editor I could be like AD. I could quit this hobby and move on to a community with better taste, more talent, and less freaks. Like editing live action furries or setting Nazi concentration camp footage to techno or something like that.'

I´m "slump". Or why do you think there are not many of my amvs out there?
I hardly quite a project (@SQ/Kaxi/Alastor:not MEP-Parts
). No I have to say, that I hardly quited projects in the past.
Once I realiszed: Man look at that! That can´t be for nothing!
and that was mostly the reason why I´ve quite all my amvs except the last two (including the little baby I´m going to finish in the next days or weeks).
It was a matter of seeing your own effort in the work. That doesn´t mean, that I don´t like my amvs, but... you know? You sometimes don´t see what it is really like.
