Don't forget the best freakin' cock ever.
That's entirely different league, man.
There's a difference between videos that are purposely awful and videos that are purposely weird. 'Sat through' shouldn't even apply there. There's many videos most people would hate but I would play on loop. Hell, I made some of these myself
This scene is rly wrong is right in there with buttsecks! At least with batwards among others it's not quite so mentally challenged. Just weird.

Those were two of the ones I was thinking of. Animasia being another. No fair only watching one part either, it has to be both parts in a single sitting. And of course you can't just skip forward to your own part. Then there's Iron Chef Idol III. Or even AMV Hell 0 if you have a weak stomach. I have some other video suggestions but after thinking about it I realized chances are probably fairly high you've already seen the RPBP series of videos so nevermind.

Well, for me the distinction is more how many times I can re-watch a video. I can fully confess that there's videos that I probably won't watch more than once, MAYBE twice - but only if there's some ulterior motive involved. These include Buttsecks, DTSEM (and quite a few other Dedicated videos), any AMV Hell over 10 minutes long (those shorter I will re-watch, but only very rarely), any AMV that purports to be "The best ### video evar" or "The worst ### video evar", and of course, any video that generally sparks no interest on my behalf. Not even because they're neccesarily bad, but because they often expend all their value for me by the first run. I mean sure I think Decoy dickery has its place here, but it's not exactly open to interpretation.

On the other hand, many bizzarities out here I will watch very often. The main criteria is that they be open to serving as an object of pondering about existential truths.

Yes, "What the fuck" is an existential truth
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

lol I also pretty much only download the videos that reach 2 pages in the announcements section. Probley gonna change that to 3 pages soon, cus I find it's rather easy to get to 2 pages with just your friends/ other kiss up comments. Still easy to get to 3... but not many videos get to 4 pages in the first place. I'll probly still go to threads with titles that interest me, and 2 pagers from editors I DON'T know. Just sick and tired of d/ling every rds/ etc. vid just cuz the fanboyz all say it rocks... when it's just as ~meh~ as the last one. Originality in amvs has truley gone down here in the past few years.

These days, I follow pretty much what godix said about watching the responses on the announcement threads. Other thing I do though is follow on some recommendations by people I know, so at least I'll know their taste in videos are trustworthy...
I do have to nitpick this, because it's one of my greatest annoyances about this site. This is why the same videos win every year in the VCAs. Nobody wants to go out of their way to find something not on the announcement board or through friends - who usually get their info from the same place. Nobody wants to just put an anime in the Super Search and download all of the videos using it. That's what I do. I call it "mass downloading." This is how I find many, many videos that are great, but are never announced. This is also why I have as many downloads as I do (so no, it's not just because I have no life!). Some of these anime have a few hundred videos, and I'm often willing to sift through all of them to get to the "good stuff."
I agree that the method I said can tend to end up with me missing out with those hidden gems, but since I don't really see them, I guess in the end I wouldn't really know what I'm missing. Ignorance is bliss? :P

Anyway, though I say that this is my method of finding what to download most frequently, I do still go on the hunting for the rare ones by unknown people when time permits for me. I like checking out people's favourites list which often do end up having the rare ones listed on them because I think people tend to want to list a video down which they thought more people should watch.

In the end, I guess this is no longer the point of the thread.

I'm always amused when people ask if they're too many videos (or simply state that there are), simply because on the whole, amvs have barely been around when you think about it.

Literature has been around for thousands of years, but I've never heard anyone go into a bookstore and go, "Why do people bother writing books? Too many exist already." :o

If you're finding that you no longer enjoy videos, even ones that you think are good, perhaps you're simply tired of them and need a break from them. Force feeding yourself isn't really a good way to enjoy a hobby.

So very true. I watch AMVs fore the sake of satisfying the mood I'm in to watch them. I have a lot of hobbies but I don't force myself to do one over the other. It's overkill man. I'm like a black man, I need variety. If I'm not in the mood for my wife, I'll go find another dish.. you know I don't want to eat asian food everyday(asian wife), sometimes I want to try something different for a change like mexican food or nice american white food. -_^ But I truly love the asian food I usually eat. Everything else is mainly sex.. I only make love to my asian food, though the asian food gets jealous some times.. lol. OK I forget my point. I should of maybe just typed "QFT" or something instead.

how can u compare books and amvs? That was a terrible comparison, the worst in the history of comparisons. But good point about force feeding. Very good point about having sex with food, i like watermelons. A break sounds like a good idea ...we should have a national 'don't watch amvs' week, for sanity purposes.

Clarify.
