I slapped together a video in about 3 days for one contest deadline and eventually it won best of show at a different con. I've wondered about that occasionally but I long ago learned that a rushed comedy with mistakes all over the place can still be funny but if you try that with other genres it tends to end up sucking.

As for the 'I have less done than you have' competition this thread is producing, I *STILL* haven't done more than about 6 seconds of the video I originally intended to be my 2004 AWA Masters video. Maybe I'll get it done by time they bring the Masters competition back.

It wasn't a competition deadline though... Note that I'm not in IRC or on Skype anymore either... Real life is killing all my fun. :'(

As far as editing quickly, I have a couple that seem to be doing well that I edited in 24 hours or less, while others I toiled at kinda suck. Wait. Not kinda. They just suck.

I've been working on one of my AMVs for TWO YEARS. I'm not sure whether I should be proud of the fact that I'm still interested in finishing it. 'Course, I had computer problems and a little thing called "school" get in my way, but still. I couldn't finish an AMV in two weeks if someone held a gun to my head. :(
Be proud of it! And finish it if you can, sometime. It can be rewarding. This year I wrapped up a project that had hatched as an idea about three years ago and took the better part of a year to edit, on and off - and it was such fun to finally see it through.

...Conversely, my only video of any note and the only one that went semi-viral for a while took four days to edit. Non-consecutive, and not 24 hours a day, and not for a deadline, just... worked on it four different days as the DVDs came in the mail (the series was just being released on DVD here at the time, so I was preordering them because I AM A GIANT DORK). And then it was done and that was that.

So... individual variation, variation between projects, and a dose of luck.

I'd just like to point out that I've ripped and deleted the VOBS for the Cowboy Bebop movie six or seven times now, all for the same video.
