Her work can be stolen just as easily from boo-whatever as from the 'Org.Ojamajo_LimePie wrote:One editor I know only posts her stuff there because she's afraid of getting her work stolen. She's also an excellent editor (Shiirahime. Her specialty is Princess Tutu AMVs.) No, using boochsack doesn't make me think less of someone, nor do AMVs posted there automatically equal suckage.
Personally, if an editor primarily posts their vids to YT, I have no respect for them - it shows they really don't care about how their work is presented, so why should I care about their work to begin with?

Heh - that was me... You want the psd file?Scintilla wrote:I'm still saddened that that one Cafepress seller took down her shirt that said "HOSATCHEL: When you really don't care what it looks like."
It would seem I didn't actually put the image on my webspace while I could still get it through Google caching...

Despite the many problems Yuu'utsube has, I can easily see offering my videos there in addition to the Org in the future.Otohiko wrote:Not to say I don't see pluses to boochsack, but my question to any serious AMV editor is "why?". The only explanation I can see is lazyness. The .org is not substantially more difficult to use than boochsack, and yet it offers far superior quality and many purpose-built features to accommodate the AMV community's special demands.
Why? Because, as far as I can tell, the 'Tube has far greater potential for spreading videos really widely among the general 'net public.
I'm sure that the ability to embed a 'Tube player in any webpage that's not on a site they block, as well of the convenience of posting a link that takes you right to the playing video, has something to do with this.
(I would say that, for the viewers, the Org is substantially harder to use -- they're more likely to have a recent Flash plugin installed than to have XviD/whatever, and not much beats just clicking on the link and seeing the video right there in your browser.)
So far, I have never uploaded any of my videos to Hosatchel. However, my 2005 video "Waka Laka (for Osaka)" has been uploaded there at least a dozen times by different people and spawned countless ripoffs and bandwagons (a search for "waka laka" there turns up 408 videos). Its most popular copy, just by itself, has over 500,000 views (not claimed to be unique) and holds spots on several of the site's top 20 lists.
That is the kind of exposure I never could have hoped for from the Org.
Does the video quality suck? Yes.
Is there sometimes desynchronization? Yes.
Will most of the viewers care? No.
Of course I would rather they come to the Org, or to the AS website, and get a high-quality version they could keep for themselves. But if it's helping to get my videos out there, and resulting in satisfied viewers...

The fact that Mexican Junior has been on the front page of www.hosatchel.com every time I've gone there never fails to amuse me. ^_^AtomX wrote:Lets see how long it takes for a web site to go up on boochsack.com

I don't deny that. I think a combination of both is fine, heck, I have a "YuuTsube" account that I fully intent to exploit if I happen to want some cheap exposure. I'm talking more specifically at the people who don't upload it to the .org here but upload it to YT instead.Scintilla wrote: Does the video quality suck? Yes.

I don't see it as an alternative. I do see it for the uh... trees, though.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Re: Posting AMVs on boochsack.
I think they are spineless little maggots who aren't even worthy enough to slither on the ground before me like little worms. I think their videos are so horrible that I have got to wonder if God is testing me with such afflictions much like he tested Job. I think they have no concept of style, taste, or talent. I have made it a hobby to sit back, close my eyes, and image them dying from a slow painful torture involving 2 toothpicks, a pushpin, some rubbing alcohol, and their genitals. Of course, I think the same thing about people who only put their work on the org so I'd have to say that no I don't think any less of them.starseekergem wrote:Would you think any less of an AMV maker who put their work up on boochsack before putting selected works up here?

I put up my AMVs up on Youtube first to see if they're liked, then I put up videos that did well on here. Downside of You.tube is that there's so much stuff it's hard to get your work noticed unless you use a unique song.
