...I'm actually in love with this guy.
Capricorn Shura from Saint Seiya (both original and Hades OVA versions).
I don't know what made me like him so much. Well, I got to know the series while I was in Italy five years ago. I saw Gold Saint figures there and ended up buying Sagittarius Aiolos. This year I sought information about the manga and anime, and found out that Shura had killed Aiolos, because the latter was labeled a traitor (he was set up by Gemini Saga, a schizophrenic Gold Saint, who was at the time posing as a man called Arles). Then I just tried to find out everything about the characters and ended up finding the show in English subs, downloading and watching it.
I'm a bit weirded out by the fact that I like Shura, even though he killed one of my other favorite characters. o.0 Maybe it's his voice, personality, astrological sign (Capricorn and Sagittarius are my favorites), looks (people say he has weird eyes), all of those aspects mixed. I have even gone as far as to have my imaginary alter ego as his wife during my daydreams. xD
Those aspects...
His voice: I have always liked low-voiced characters, and his is not the most high-pitched of them.
His personality and astrological sign: He's blindly loyal, but he does understand before he dies that loyalty can be a good thing.. in small doses. I also always think that his last thoughts weren't about Athena, the Goddess he was so loyal to, but about Aiolos, the best friend he had killed and the thought about how he was going to react after they met again. Shura is pure Capricorn. He's down-to-earth, hard-working, loyal, determined, responsible, serious, fatalistic, stubborn and brooding. I don't know what it is, but I love serious and brooding anime characters, and occasionally some fatalistic ones (a Transformer called Dead End comes to mind).
His looks: ...Yeah. He's wonderful. He has this black, weird-cut hair and black beady eyes. He looks quite different in the Hades OVA series (a lot better, actually), and his eyes aren't as weird-looking as they were before. OK, his original version isn't the most good-looking of guys, but there's something in him that I love - and I don't know what it is.
Here's a short bit of his and Shiryu's fight from the Sanctuary saga. (From Wikipedia):
Shiryu immediately grabbed onto the gold saint's wrist and, using the most of his 7th sense, sliced off Shura's lower arm and quickly latched himself behind him. The Dragon Saint then unleashed the forbidden "Rozan Kou Ryu Ha" technique, and the two men were shot into the air. When Shura questioned why Shiryu would sacrifice his precious life for Saori Kido -- someone who, according to Pope Ares, was a blatant impersonator --, Shiryu replied that he believed Saori to truly be the real Athena, and the proof is in the five Bronze Saints' utter devotion in saving her. Shura finally realized that he had made a huge error in opposing them, and declared that a loyal man like Shiryu cannot afford to die. Using the last bit of his own cosmos, Shura transferred the Capricorn Gold Cloth onto Shiryu for protection, then kicked the Dragon Saint back onto Earth. As Shura's body began to grind into dust from the pressures of outer space, he told Shiryu to watch over Athena in his stead.
Every time I see some of his scenes in the Hades OVA series, I'm both ^___^ and T_T
