Have you ever started any AMV trends?

Post by Cornwiggle » Wed Nov 01, 2006 9:32 am

What I mean is, you come up with an idea and it's well received, so well received that everyone starts doing basically the same thing?

One example I can think of is Doki Doki's Senshi on Springer, and how a lot of vids just started to pop up after it was made with the same song.

Something like that, an anime, character, song, effect, are you aware of ever starting a trend?

I looked yesterday and found I had too. I did a tribute to Barry the Chopper from FMA since he is my favorite character. Now there are like 9 other vids (none of them are downloadable) about Barry when there weren't before. Barry went from underrated to overrated >_>

I don't think the influence is enough to qualify as a trend. A trend is AMV hell. A trend is Euphoria. 9 videos that have the same idea out of 3316 is not a trend.

I guess you're right. Influence then? Ever started an influence?

Just out of curiosity, is this going to go anywhere beyond e-penis stroking? Is there a discussion that can really come out of who started a trend or influenced somebody? Are we looking for the next revolution already?

2003: Euphoria
2004: AMV Hell
2005: Law suits and mass paranoia, starting at Mon Jan 24, 2005 6:47 pm.
2006: MEP's really took off, straight to the bottom. Remember when MEP's were cool? Me neither. But now they're like Jesus in the stall. But there were MEP's before, so does this really count? What are we left with to mark this year specifically? The culmination of the stuff that was pushed to the bottom of the metaphorical barrel?
2007: What will the coming year bring?

That would be Wonka, FYI.

When Hail to the Thief came out, about 4 or 5 action eva videos with similar scenes and styles popped up and told me that I was the inspiration. Thats about as close as i get.

I always thought that was the Doctor Online?

We're all out of kool-aid, how about some Strawberry Jam?
Another one for the vault, minion. I'd upload it, but you need to clean out what's in there first.
