I WAS gonna post this in Site announcements... [OP/Averages]

BUT A THANKYOU to all CRITICAL oppers of a-m-v.org! When I last looked, back in 2005 or 4, the site average for ALL categorys was an INANE 8+!!! I'd been oppin' my ass off since than to acheive what I see today -_- a nearly 7 average in most ALL categories!! I'm so happy I could cry...

Now lets just do something about that 9+!! in sound! Geeze! you'd think we'd have to add the word 'LIVE' into AMVs!! Like every AMV gets a 10 in sound now, it seems! Wake up people, MP3s SUCK!

Dude, waht.

To be honest I don't think it's fair to treat the rating system as something objective. Everyone has their own approaches, no need to blast them. There's no cause to get angry at generous scores.

(yes this is coming from someone whose given star rating average is over 4)

lol! no, but if you'd notice there is a trend. In the good ole days all the averages where were they SHOULD be, 7-ish. And then I left, and came back a year later, the averages were 8+ and cliques roamed the announcement sections, so much that many people were AFRAID to announce their stuff! Now, not so much. I correlate the two (though the sound thing... geeze!)

lol I compressed my FFV video with ABPCM LOSSLESS audio. It sounds MUCH better than mp3. bigger, but not as big as uncompressed... about 2/3rds the size. a little bigger than the highest mp3 setting

imo, audio is probably scored properly (at lest, closer to what it should be than most)
everything else doesn't really depend on the system that you're watching the amv on.

sound quality can be highly system dependant. Of course you'll be able to hear more defects if you have a $xxx sound card and $xxx speakers, but if you're stuck with the speakers that they decided to mash into your monitor it'l be hard(er) to hear the difference between good sound and not so good sound.

but I generally agree with you, most people rate too high. I mean come on people, with nearly 10k DBZ amvs, and well over 10k naruto amvs, how can anyone be justified in giving originality anything higher than a 4 or 5 (for most of these, some actually deserve the scores that they get...but not too many).

people should score based on what they want...but what they should want is to score on a scale where 5 is average

lower than what I have? all categories between 7 and 8? I think I'd been fare in my 1000+ ops. Just cuz I didn't like Euphoria lol. Or... or... yeah.

uh... if things were truely avarage on a scale of 1-10 then the avarage should be around 5 :/
