File size check?

Post by Orwell » Fri Oct 27, 2006 9:15 pm

Does the site have sort of file size checker? No, probably not, when you consider this and this. Somehow I doubt they have permission for large files, and these are just two examples of what's on the site, there are plenty more.

doesn't it usually give you an error when you try to confirm something that's over 100MB without permission?

Because of the uncompressed goodness? :P

Or knowing it's a (what I am assuming is a) bad AMV in all its glory: the best possible audio and video quality (for whatever that is worth).

Often, the file is just deleted. Lee ran into this problem when trying to upload RoS3.

I'm interested to see what path these guys took to get their gargantuan files up, though.

Probably filed an Oversize Upload request, and whoever handled it didn't bother to check if it was justified.

Sweet! So if we want to upload large files, all we have to do is keep putting in upload requests so that it gets seen when the "lazy guy" is on duty?

Hopefully not. I'm going to go and... have a few words with the person I suspect to be responsible.
