Is downloading clips from animemusicvideos.org legal?

Downloading AMVs here is legal, I suppose, or maybe something what the other people said about downloading stuff from here.

As for downloading clips, I guess it would have to be more defined to get into that. I'm pretty sure you won't find any clips of anime or any other type of copyrighted material, as for it's against the rules.

I'm fairly sure such videos wouldn't be ALLOWED on this site in the first place. If it's ok to distribute, chances are it's not anime.

btw if you mean to download amvs from here and use THEM for footage. Please don't. Most people don't like that. Find your own footage. In the long run it'd be better anyway.

i am not a lawyer, but under copyright law, it's not illegal to DOWNLOAD material that's made available to you without permission of the copyright holder. it's illegal to distribute, present, prepare derivative works of, or otherwise make available to others said material.

Good point, but I still don't feel any guilt because when it comes down to it in a non-technicality, amvs are actually helping the companies at the same time. The amount of work and originality that goes into making one is worth noting as well.

I know it's a fairly subjective argument, but it just doesn't seem right to have such restrictive laws when no one even benefits from them. I don't think of myself as a communistic leech by any means. Like most of the org, I make an effort to buy the dvds whenever I can.

(Too bad the rest of the internet can't obey be this rule of thumb. Otherwise laws could afford to be less strict).

Out of curiosity, are there any .org goers who are lawyers?
