Hey look, a topic. [What draws people to AMVs?]
Just out of curiosity, i have tons of friends that hate anime. But they LOVE AMV's, they constantly ask me if i'v made or DLed any new amv's, but if i offer to lend them the DVD to the anime i used they are all "Hells no" ... What IS it about amv's that gives it such a wide appeal? Or is phade still in the lab figuring that out? (So THAT'S where he is! lol)

Pretty pictures to neato music. And watching about 4 minutes (give or take) of usually the coolest parts of an anime without having to spend hours watching the entire series (even if the footage is the only thing that has anything to do with the anime storywise.guy07 wrote:What IS it about amv's that gives it such a wide appeal?

I agree with wurpess. Short attention spans don't want to sit through a long story.guy07 wrote: What IS it about amv's that gives it such a wide appeal?
1-5 minutes of Music+Action/fun/fan service=a good time in a short time.
If you think they'd like it, try showing them Azumanga Dioh. It breaks down into five minutes episodes.
Pray 4 peace! Not an AMV, something you can do to help!

good point, i mean, in order to make a decent amv u need what, 4 eps? that goes to show there isn't much entertainment in each ep and cramming it all together makes it all the more satisfying.
And i'm not so sure we use "popular" music, we sort of have our own popular music that others haven't really heard, i mean, there arn't a hell of a lot of people that don't watch anime that have heard of E Nomine, MSI or Thousand Footcrutch and the like, which are huge in AMVs right now. Maybe we just have a superior taste in music

AMVs release endorphines.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.
