I just recently wanted to make an AMV but im not to sure how to... so anyway, the only movie maker I got would be windows movie maker. what program would I need? and where do I get the videos for the movie maker? if I have to download the episodes that would take alot of space.

this should probably be in video software help, or general video.

anyway, dowloading footage to make amvs is highly discouraged.
and if you think that takes a lot of space, you haven't seen anything yet.

to get started, I suggest that you Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides
it's long, and a bit techy...but it's a very good guide.

the other thing I reccomend that you do is to look at other people's vids to see what they do (to kinda give you an idea of how to edit your own vids)

I hate to tell you this, but editing from DVD footage (which is what you should be doing) takes up even more space. I can safely say that if I hadn't been AMVing in college, I wouldn't have ever bought that additional 160 GB hard drive I got.

The guide Kariudo linked to contains a section on how to rip DVD footage, but if you're using Windows Movie Maker, than I suggest you also take a look at this guide for the latter part of the process of getting the footage into a usable format.
